Job Title: Shipping Supervisor
Job Description
The Shipping Supervisor oversees day-to-day shipping floor operations on the first shift, ensuring all customer orders are picked, wrapped, staged, and loaded accurately and on time. This role assigns and tracks work orders, coordinates closely with production, scheduling, and customer service teams, and maintains a clean, organized, and safe shipping department. The position requires a hands-on leader who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while supporting inventory accuracy and efficient material handling practices.
Responsibilities
- Assign, distribute, and monitor daily work orders for shipping personnel to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Ensure all orders are picked, wrapped, staged, and loaded accurately and on schedule for shipment.
- Supervise shipping floor employees and maintain consistent workflow throughout the shift.
- Verify that employees work efficiently and follow established company procedures and best practices.
- Coordinate shipping priorities and schedules with production, scheduling, and customer service teams.
- Inspect completed orders for accuracy, product quality, and proper packaging before shipment.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety standards within the shipping department.
- Assist in resolving shipping issues, including order shortages, delays, and other discrepancies as they arise.
- Support inventory accuracy through effective inventory control practices and cycle counts.
- Oversee proper material handling and warehouse management to protect products and optimize space.
- Utilize ERP systems and data entry to track shipments, work orders, and inventory movements.
- Operate or oversee operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed, in accordance with safety guidelines.
Essential Skills
- Prior experience in shipping, warehouse, or logistics in a supervisory or lead capacity preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple work orders and tasks.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with shipping personnel and cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with work orders, shipping documentation, and inventory control processes.
- Hands-on leadership style with a strong attention to detail and quality.
- Basic computer skills and comfort with data entry and reporting.
- Familiarity with ERP systems for tracking inventory and shipments.
- Knowledge of warehouse management and material handling practices.
- Forklift experience preferred, with the ability to support safe equipment operation.
- Understanding of logistics processes, including order flow from production through shipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing shipping environment is a plus.
- Experience in warehouse management and logistics coordination is advantageous.
- Experience performing or overseeing cycle counts to support inventory accuracy.
- Ability to coach, guide, and motivate shipping floor employees.
- Comfort working with data entry, basic reporting, and ERP or warehouse management systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Work Environment
This role operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime as needed based on production demands. The environment involves active material handling, including the use of forklifts and other warehouse equipment, and requires regular movement throughout the shipping and warehouse areas. The shipping department emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and adherence to safety procedures to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlstadt, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
