Job Title: Structural Engineer


Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Structural Engineer with a passion for forensic engineering and two years of experience in the field. This role involves drafting and designing structural projects, conducting site surveys, and collaborating with a team to support legal actions on faulty construction. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and have a degree in Structural Engineering.


Responsibilities

  • Travel to job sites across New Jersey.
  • Work under the direction of a Project Manager to inspect beams, draw sketches, and create drawings.
  • Conduct site surveys and inspections; participate in site walkthroughs with Project Engineers and Inspectors to determine drafting requirements.
  • Write detailed reports on site findings.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop repair plans and specifications.
  • Work alongside Professional Engineers and Licensed Architects to build cases against contractors.
  • Use AutoCAD to draft and design drawings for future construction repairs.
  • Utilize Bluebeam for data entry.
  • Navigate and operate CAD software effectively.

Essential Skills

  • Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to draft and design structural projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in site analysis report writing.
  • Background in building-related engineering.
  • Ability to communicate independently with clients.
  • Experience in insurance claims, site investigation, and root cause analysis.

Work Environment

The work environment is in a modern design studio located in Bedminster, NJ, featuring the latest versions of Revit and AutoCAD. The culture is relaxed yet professional, promoting teamwork and accountability. The firm offers a low turnover rate, and leisure activities such as Xbox, ping pong, and Friday BBQs are common. Office hours are 8-5, with some evening meetings required for senior engineers. Employees receive a laptop and cellphone, with optional work-from-home days and flexibility encouraged. The role involves traveling to various job sites in New Jersey, including Hudson County, Secaucus, Princeton/Plainsboro, and Long Branch/Asbury Park.
