Job Title: Utility Inspector
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Utility Inspector to oversee the replacement of lead service lines with copper ones. This role involves inspecting water mains and various structures such as roads, dams, and bridges to ensure structural soundness, safety, and compliance with regulations. You will document inspection results, monitor progress, and contribute to construction and project status reports. You will also oversee and coordinate construction-related services and conduct on-site investigations.
Responsibilities
- Inspect water mains and other structures to ensure structural soundness, safety, and compliance with codes and regulations.
- Document inspection results, including structural conditions and deficiencies between design and execution.
- Monitor progress and contribute to construction reports and project status updates.
- Oversee and coordinate construction-related services on projects.
- Conduct on-site investigations and review relevant data including maps, reports, tests, and drawings.
- Ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations, including permits and safety requirements.
- Deliver technical files and documentation as required.
Essential Skills
- OSHA 10 certification
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with clients daily.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- 1+ years of construction experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

- High School Diploma.
- Ability to pass a federal background check.
- Technical proficiency and design application knowledge.
- Understanding of the construction process for large commercial, municipal, or federal projects.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable using computers, tablets, and phones.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills for relationship cultivation.
Work Environment
The role involves canvassing and surveying areas in North/Central NJ, particularly between Edison NJ and Newark. You will use a mobile app on a tablet to conduct inspections and take photos. The position requires a personal vehicle, with mileage reimbursement available, and offers opportunities for overtime pay.
