The Shop Helper supports day-to-day operations by keeping the shop and yard clean, organized, and safe, while assisting with equipment maintenance and documentation. This role involves general labor tasks, reading blueprints, handling inventory, and using power tools and forklifts to ensure work is completed efficiently and accurately.
Responsibilities- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard area at all times.
- Perform general labor duties such as cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance tasks on equipment and tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints to support repair, maintenance, and fabrication activities.
- Document all work performed in a clear and accurate manner, following established procedures.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing equipment and materials in the yard and shop.
- Operate power tools safely and effectively to support repair and maintenance work.
- Use forklifts to move, load, and unload equipment and materials as needed, following safety guidelines.
- Support inventory control by helping track, count, and organize parts, tools, and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure workflow is efficient and work areas are prepared for upcoming tasks.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while working in both indoor and outdoor areas.
- Ability to perform general labor tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints to support shop and yard activities.
- Experience maintaining a clean and organized work environment in a shop or yard setting.
- Basic proficiency in documenting work performed in a clear and accurate manner.
- Skill in safely operating power tools for repair and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to learn and follow forklift safety procedures.
- Basic inventory handling skills, including organizing and tracking materials and equipment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of related experience in a shop, yard, or similar environment.
- Experience working in environments where equipment is stored, repaired, and received.
- Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor settings in varying conditions.
- Attention to detail when cleaning, organizing, and documenting work.
- Strong sense of responsibility for maintaining a safe and orderly workspace.
- Willingness to learn new tools, processes, and equipment as needed.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other team members to support overall operations.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frenchtown, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
