Job Description
The Lead Electrical Planner oversees planning, scheduling, and cost control activities for turnaround (TA) projects, with a strong focus on IPS (TOADFLY) and work order management systems. This role develops and maintains custom key performance indicators (KPIs) and reports, manages earned and burned value metrics, and supports multiple planners and execution coordinators to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical planning activities for turnaround (TA) projects, ensuring work is properly scoped, scheduled, and controlled.
- Use IPS (TOADFLY) to develop, maintain, and optimize project plans and schedules for electrical and instrumentation work.
- Create, configure, and maintain custom KPIs and other reports within IPS (TOADFLY) to track project performance and progress.
- Utilize the work order system to create, manage, and update work orders, ensuring accurate status and documentation.
- Develop and manage cost controls for TA projects, including tracking earned and burned values and other cost metrics.
- Support project controls by preparing and analyzing reports for multiple planners and execution coordinators.
- Monitor project performance against established KPIs and earned value metrics, and recommend corrective actions when needed.
- Collaborate with planners, execution coordinators, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate data entry and consistent reporting.
- Prepare and distribute regular project control reports, including cost, schedule, and performance summaries.
- Ensure that electrical planning, cost control, and reporting tools are used consistently and effectively across the project team.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience using IPS (TOADFLY) for planning and scheduling.
- Proven ability to create custom KPIs and other required reports within IPS (TOADFLY) or similar planning tools.
- 2–3 years of experience working with a computerized work order system.
- Hands-on experience with cost control for turnaround (TA) or similar projects, including earned and burned value tracking.
- Strong understanding of project controls, including cost, schedule, and performance reporting.
- Ability to support multiple planners and execution coordinators with accurate and timely data and reports.
- Proficiency with reporting tools used for project controls and KPI tracking.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when working with cost, schedule, and performance data.
- Experience with electrical and instrumentation planning in an industrial or turnaround environment.
- Familiarity with Maximo or similar maintenance and work order management systems.
- Exposure to project control environments where earned value, KPIs, and detailed reporting are central to decision-making.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including planners and execution coordinators.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing and explaining reports and metrics.
This role operates in a project-focused environment supporting turnaround (TA) activities, where planning, scheduling, and cost control tools such as IPS (TOADFLY), work order systems, and reporting applications are used daily. Work typically involves close collaboration with multiple planners and execution coordinators, frequent review of project performance metrics, and preparation of detailed reports. The position may require occasional presence in operational or industrial areas to align planning and execution, while much of the work is performed in an office or control-room-type setting using computers and specialized planning software.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
