Job Title: Civil Superintendent – Underground Utilities (Data Center Project)
Job Description
This role is an on-site Civil Superintendent position supporting a large-scale data center construction project in Peru Ridge. The Civil Superintendent leads field operations for a $60 million underground utilities scope, with a primary focus on wet utilities involving seven different pipelines. Over approximately nine months, with potential for full-time hire, you will manage multiple pipe crews, ensure work is executed safely and efficiently, and keep the project on schedule while upholding high quality standards. Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage two pipe crews in the field, totaling approximately 14 team members, ensuring clear direction and effective coordination.
- Lead day-to-day field operations for the underground utilities scope, with a primary focus on wet utilities involving seven different pipelines.
- Ensure all work progresses safely, on schedule, and in alignment with project milestones and budget expectations.
- Make educated, independent decisions in the field to keep the project moving forward, escalating only major financial or critical issues to the Project Manager.
- Monitor crew productivity, quality of work, and adherence to project plans, specifications, and standards.
- Coordinate wet and dry utility activities to minimize conflicts and maintain an efficient workflow.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and subsurface utility engineering information to guide field activities.
- Reinforce and uphold site safety protocols, including participation in site orientation and prequalification requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the on-site Project Manager, providing regular updates on progress, issues, and resource needs.
- Support a positive team culture by providing strong leadership, coaching, and direction to crew members.
- Adjust field operations as needed to address changing conditions, unforeseen obstacles, or schedule constraints while maintaining safety and quality.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements and project specifications throughout the construction process.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience managing wet utilities, including multiple pipelines; experience with seven or more pipelines is highly relevant.
- Demonstrated background in civil construction and underground utilities on large-scale projects, including work comparable to a $60 million underground civil project.
- Experience managing projects or scopes in the $10 million range, including individual lines valued between $6 million and $10 million.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage two pipe crews totaling approximately 14 people.
- Ability to work autonomously and make confident, educated decisions without constant oversight for smaller issues.
- Proven capability to keep projects moving forward safely, on schedule, and on time.
- Safety-oriented mindset with a track record of making decisions that prioritize safe work practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and subsurface utility engineering information.
- Experience in contract-based work environments, with contract work experience fully acceptable.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to coordinate multiple crews and activities effectively.
- Clear and effective communication skills for coordinating with crews and reporting to the on-site Project Manager.

Work Environment
This position is fully on-site at a large data center construction project in Peru Ridge. The role follows a “six tens” schedule, working Monday through Saturday, not to exceed 58 hours per week, with overtime paid at time and a half. Paid lunches are provided daily. The site offers a large lunch tent of approximately 20,000 square feet with water, shade, and a snack area to support comfort during breaks. You will operate within a structured team environment, managing two pipe crews of about 14 people and reporting directly to the on-site Project Manager. The project includes both wet and dry utilities, with wet utilities representing the larger portion of the scope. Full safety protocols are in place, including mandatory site orientation and prequalification. The position is expected to run for approximately nine months, with the potential for direct hire and future opportunities on projects across the West Coast.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $90.00/hr.
