Job Description

  • We are seeking a dedicated Project Monitor to oversee the onsite work of asbestos abatement contractors.
  • The role involves ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards, including conducting air sampling and visual inspections.
  • The successful candidate will maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with stakeholders, and will have experience in environmental investigations, assessments, regulatory compliance, inspections, and remediation oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee asbestos abatement projects to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct air sampling and visual inspections to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of all project activities.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding project progress and compliance issues.
  • Perform field monitoring of abatement projects in accordance with NYS DOL regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
  • 4 years of experience in Environmental Science.
  • Experience in environmental project monitoring.
  • Air Monitoring Experience.
  • Asbestos Project Monitor certification.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Hazwoper Certification.
  • Project management skills.
  • Asbestos certificate.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Asbestos Inspector.
  • Asbestos Designer.
  • Air Monitoring Technician.
  • Environmental science expertise.
  • OSHA 40 certification.
  • Knowledge of NYS DEC regulations.

Work Environment

  • The position involves working as a third-party oversight on projects for the NYS DOT and General Services, with a current backlog of 3-4 million dollars in abatement work.
  • The role requires performing a variety of environmental tasks, including air monitoring, regulatory compliance, and remediation oversight.
  • The work environment is primarily in the field and involves traveling from site to site.
