Job Title: Fire Alarm Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on installing and servicing fire alarm and low-voltage systems on commercial job sites across Long Island. You will start each day at the central shop in Brentwood and travel with the team to various locations throughout Suffolk and Nassau counties to complete fire alarm installation, wiring, inspection, and service work. You will be driven by team members in a company van.
Responsibilities
- Install commercial fire alarm systems and related low-voltage equipment in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes.
- Perform wiring, pulling wire, and terminating connections for fire alarm and low-voltage systems.
- Install and work with conduit and other necessary materials to support fire alarm and electrical installations.
- Assist with inspections and testing of fire alarm systems to verify proper operation and compliance.
- Provide service and basic troubleshooting for fire alarm and low-voltage systems as needed on job sites.
- Work on commercial job sites across Long Island, coordinating daily activities with the team.
- Report to the shop in Brentwood each morning to prepare tools, materials, and equipment before traveling to job sites.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area on all projects.
- Collaborate with team members to complete installations efficiently and meet project timelines.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues about job progress, issues, and material needs.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of experience working with fire alarm or low-voltage systems.
- Hands-on experience with fire alarm installation in commercial environments.
- Strong electrical and low-voltage wiring skills, including pulling wire and making proper terminations.
- Ability to install and work with conduit for fire alarm and low-voltage systems.
- Experience performing fire alarm inspections, testing, and basic service work.
- Understanding of fire alarm system components and how they integrate within commercial buildings.
- Ability to work on multiple commercial job sites across Long Island.
- Reliability in reporting to the shop in Brentwood each day and traveling with the team to job locations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Interest in growing into a senior fire alarm technician position over time.
- Willingness to learn and be trained on additional low-voltage systems.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team on busy commercial job sites.

Work Environment
The role is based around commercial fire alarm installation work on job sites across Suffolk and Nassau counties. Each workday begins at the shop in Brentwood, where you meet the team and then travel together to the assigned job sites in a company van. You will work with electrical and low-voltage tools, wiring, fire alarm panels, devices, and conduit in active commercial environments. The position involves regular field work, moving between locations, and working in a variety of building conditions typical of commercial construction and service projects.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brentwood, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
