Job Description
This Assistant Superintendent role supports day-to-day field operations on active construction projects, with a focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence. The position is ideal for a field-based construction professional with 2–6+ years of experience who is eager to grow into a broader leadership role on commercial, infrastructure, or energy projects. You will help coordinate subcontractors, enforce safety standards, track progress against plans and specifications, and ensure smooth communication between field and office teams on complex, high-performance infrastructure and sustainability initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day field operations across active construction projects, ensuring work progresses safely and efficiently.
- Assist in tracking construction progress, identifying site issues, and confirming that work is executed in accordance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Enforce strict adherence to OSHA and company safety standards on site, leading by example and holding all trades accountable.
- Conduct regular safety walkthroughs, proactively identify hazards, and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe jobsite.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all trades on site through consistent communication, coaching, and reinforcement of best practices.
- Work closely with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and sequencing of work.
- Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, and adherence to project schedules, escalating issues as needed to project leadership.
- Support coordination between trades to minimize conflicts, rework, and delays, helping to maintain a smooth flow of work.
- Develop and maintain 3-week look-ahead schedules in collaboration with project leadership and field teams.
- Assist in tracking project milestones, identifying potential delays, and recommending adjustments to plans to keep the project on schedule.
- Coordinate with project leadership to adjust sequencing and resources based on field conditions and project priorities.
- Maintain awareness of existing and new utilities on-site, including underground and overhead infrastructure.
- Help coordinate utility work and ensure proper sequencing to avoid disruptions and conflicts with ongoing construction activities.
- Assist in identifying potential conflicts related to underground or overhead infrastructure and communicate issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, site logs, and progress updates to document field activities and conditions.
- Track issues, requests for information (RFIs), and field changes, ensuring they are communicated and documented appropriately.
- Support effective communication between field and office teams, facilitating timely flow of information, drawings, and directives.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of energy, public sector, and infrastructure projects with a strong focus on safety, quality, and performance.
- 2–6+ years of general construction experience, preferably on commercial, infrastructure, or energy projects.
- Experience working in a field-based construction role such as assistant superintendent, field engineer, or assistant project manager.
- OSHA 30 certification required; OSHA 62 is acceptable depending on project requirements.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and safety practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced jobsite environment.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately.
- Experience with energy, public sector, or infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to scheduling tools or project management software.
- Hands-on experience in commercial construction, including ground-up projects and subcontractor management.
- Demonstrated commitment to enforcing and promoting jobsite safety.
- Background in energy services, infrastructure, or sustainability-focused construction projects.
- Experience supporting high-performance infrastructure or sustainability solutions.
- Familiarity with developing and maintaining short-interval (e.g., 3-week) look-ahead schedules.
- Experience maintaining detailed daily reports, site logs, and progress tracking documentation.
- Ability to identify field issues early and collaborate with project leadership to resolve them.
- Interest in growing into a broader leadership role such as assistant superintendent, assistant super, or junior construction manager.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
