Position Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety and environmental programs that ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company standards. This position serves as a trusted EHS resource across multiple facilities, driving continuous improvement initiatives, reducing workplace risks, and promoting employee engagement in safety programs.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update programs accordingly.
- Maintain OSHA logs, incident records, audit reports, SDS documentation, and compliance records.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and facility assessments.
- Identify hazards, evaluate risks, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety documentation.
Training & Employee Engagement
- Coordinate and deliver new hire safety orientations and ongoing employee training.
- Promote safety awareness and employee participation across all levels of the organization.
- Facilitate Health & Safety Committee meetings and communicate performance metrics and improvement opportunities.
Environmental Programs
- Manage hazardous waste handling, storage, labeling, and disposal activities.
- Support environmental compliance initiatives and sustainability efforts.
- Ensure environmental programs align with regulatory requirements and company objectives.
Emergency Preparedness
- Coordinate emergency response plans, drills, evacuation procedures, and preparedness programs.
- Support first aid, CPR, and emergency response initiatives.
- Assist facility leadership in maintaining readiness for emergency situations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Leadership teams to integrate EHS best practices into everyday operations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for environmental, health, and safety initiatives across multiple locations.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance requirements.
- Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of hazardous waste management and environmental compliance practices.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employees and leadership at all levels.
Preferred
- OSHA 30, HAZWOPER 40, ASP, CSP, CHMM, or similar certifications.
- Experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities.
- Background in consumer products, cosmetics, packaging, food manufacturing, or related industries.
- Experience implementing continuous improvement and safety culture initiatives.
- Strong understanding of environmental management systems and best practices.

Work Environment
This role operates within a manufacturing environment that supports large-scale production for leading beauty and cosmetics brands. The EHS Engineer works closely with operations, quality, and leadership teams on the production floor and in office settings to ensure EHS requirements are integrated into daily activities. The position involves regular facility walk-throughs, safety inspections, and audits, as well as participation in emergency drills and safety committee meetings across multiple locations. The work environment emphasizes a proactive safety culture, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement in environmental, health, and safety performance.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Congers, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
