Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics & LED Systems
Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a growing product development team focused on LED lighting systems, power electronics, and driver technologies. This role will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of electronic products from concept through production.
The ideal candidate will have experience with power supply design, LED drivers, PCB development, and hardware validation, along with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and product improvement. This position offers direct exposure to new product development, manufacturing support, and advanced power electronics technologies while working closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop power electronics, LED drivers, control systems, and related electronic products.
- Create schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer or similar ECAD software.
- Design, prototype, and evaluate new products and proof-of-concept solutions.
- Perform hardware validation, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance.
- Support UL certification and regulatory approval efforts for new and existing products.
- Investigate product issues, analyze field failures, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and improve production testing methods, fixtures, and validation procedures.
- Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting assembly and production issues.
- Manage product BOMs, component selection, and alternate component qualification.
- Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing personnel, and engineering teams to improve product quality and manufacturability.
- Participate in product launches, pilot builds, and production ramp-up activities.
- Provide technical support to sales, customer support, and operations teams when required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical design, electronics development, or power electronics engineering.
- Experience designing switching power supplies, LED drivers, power converters, or related products.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer, Cadence, Allegro, Eagle, or similar PCB design software.
- Strong understanding of:
- Analog and digital circuit design
- Power electronics
- PCB layout and design
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Hardware validation and testing
- Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, and laboratory test equipment.
- Ability to debug hardware and perform root cause analysis at the component and circuit level.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial or industrial LED lighting products.
- Familiarity with UL 8750, UL 1598, and related safety standards.
- Experience supporting EMC/EMI compliance testing.
- Knowledge of three-phase power systems and industrial controls.
- Experience with embedded systems, firmware, or programming languages such as C or Python.
- Experience designing production test fixtures and manufacturing validation processes.
- Understanding of SMT assembly and PCBA manufacturing processes.

This is a Permanent position based out of Halfmoon, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
