Mechanical Drafter (Solidworks) - Brooklyn, NY

Salary: $75,000 - $88,000 per year
Location: Brooklyn, NY (On-site only)
Requirements:
- Solidworks proficiency is mandatory.
- This position operates out of our facility in Brooklyn, NY - remote work is not available.
- Must have 5+ years of drafting experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, review, and distribute technical drawings and cut files for assigned projects.
- Ensure department tasks stay on track and are prioritized according to the production schedule.
- Assist the Digital Fabrication Office with department improvements, new techniques, and standard engineering practices.
- Troubleshoot any unforeseen challenges that arise.
Previous Work Experience:
- General Contracting
- Carpentry
- Metalwork
- Cabinet Making
- Millwork Foreman
- CNC Programmer or Machinist
Ideal Candidate:
- Must be detail-oriented and organized.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read, understand, and produce drawings and details.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Experienced in visualizing a project through the production & installation process.
- Must have regular and punctual attendance.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience with one or more of the following programs is a plus: Rhino, Fusion360, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator.
Detailed Description:
- Proficient in creating technical drawings, renderings, and cut files in CAD/3D modeling software (Solidworks proficiency mandatory, AutoCAD recommended/optional).
- Interpret project conception based on sketches, renderings, and/or other provided information.
- Create technical drawings, renderings, and 3D models according to the project budget, fabrication capabilities, finishing capabilities, and installation requirements.
- Exhibit keen knowledge of home building hardware, furniture hardware, cabinetry hardware, retail fixture hardware, signage, and tradeshow hardware.
- Exhibit keen knowledge of standard & special wood, metal, plastic-based engineered sheet goods as well as their applications, properties, dimensions, and availability.
- Display competence and awareness of our fabrication, finishing, CNC machining, and tooling capabilities.
- Maintain detail and solution-oriented throughout the entire drafting process.
- Strive to learn and develop a strong familiarity with basic kinetic and automation engineering, structural engineering methods, and ballast calculations.
