Job Title: Utilities Inspector


Job Description

The Inspector will be responsible for overseeing the relocation, installation, and protection of water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecommunications infrastructure. The role ensures compliance with plans, specifications, contracts, and codes, while monitoring construction progress and adherence to schedules.


Responsibilities

  • Inspect the relocation, installation, and protection of water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, contracts, and codes.
  • Monitor construction progress and adherence to schedules.
  • Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Act as a liaison between contractors, utility companies, and project management.
  • Coordinate with utility owners/agencies to minimize disruptions and resolve conflicts.
  • Update the project team on utility work progress and issues.
  • Maintain daily inspection logs, photos, and reports.
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and change order requests.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in rail, tunnel, roadway, or other heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of water, sewer, gas, and electric systems.
  • Experience with excavation, trenching, and underground systems installation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • NICET certification or ICC certification.
  • Experience working with PSEG or CONED.

Work Environment

This position is part of a multi-billion dollar infrastructure project, requiring work 5 days on-site. You will collaborate with a team of inspectors, Resident Engineers, Construction Managers, and Field Engineers, focusing on monitoring, inspecting, and documenting utility-related construction activities.
