Job Title: Intermediate Architectural Designer – Transportation / Transit Projects
Job Description
This role focuses on architectural production and drafting for a growing portfolio of transportation and transit projects. You will prepare detailed architectural drawings and technical documents using MicroStation, working closely with Project Managers and Team Leads in a structured, standards-driven environment. This position offers the opportunity to contribute immediately to high-profile, city-shaping transit work while supporting multiple project packages in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and detailed architectural drawings and technical documents for active transit and transportation projects.
- Execute production and drafting tasks under the direction of Project Managers and Team Leads, ensuring coordinated and consistent drawing sets.
- Support multiple project packages simultaneously, managing workload effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Coordinate and manage project files within ProjectWise and client-hosted document systems, following established workflows and protocols.
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and adherence to transit authority and large public-agency standards, including document control and compliance requirements.
- Assist in meeting deadlines tied to near-term contract deliverables, adjusting to shifting priorities as project needs evolve.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary and multi-team project groups, supporting real-time coordination in transit-hosted environments.
- Apply strong architectural drafting and production skills, particularly for infrastructure and transit-focused design work.
Essential Skills
- Strong architectural drafting and production experience, ideally within transit, transportation, or infrastructure environments.
- Proficiency in MicroStation (2D), with the ability to use it daily for architectural production on active transit projects.
- Ability to work efficiently under the direction of Project Managers and Team Leads, producing coordinated drawing sets on tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with large public-agency standards and workflows, including document control and compliance requirements.
- Comfort working within ProjectWise and client-hosted document management systems.
- Ability to balance multiple assignments and shifting priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills to support effective coordination with project teams.
- Collaborative team mindset, with a focus on supporting project delivery and meeting contract milestones.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting transit authority or large public-agency projects, such as MTA or similar organizations, strongly preferred.
- Experience with Bentley OpenBuildings, particularly in a production or coordination role, highly valued.
- Familiarity with Bentley 3D environments and workflows, including coordination across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong coordination skills in multi-team project settings, especially when working with Bentley OpenBuildings and related platforms.
- Interest in complex transportation and civic architecture projects with significant public impact.

Work Environment
This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with three days in the office and two days working remotely each week. The role is based in a New York City office and involves daily work within transit authority–hosted and client-hosted digital environments. You will use MicroStation and related Bentley tools extensively, coordinating in real time with project teams through established document systems such as ProjectWise. The work environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with an emphasis on collaboration, adherence to public-agency standards, and delivery of high-profile, city-shaping transit projects that have meaningful public impact.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
