Staff Accountant

About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support financial reporting, account reconciliations, and the month-end close process. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys analyzing financial data, improving processes, and collaborating across departments. You'll gain exposure to multi-currency reporting, financial statement analysis, and modern ERP systems while contributing to a high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries and general ledger analysis.
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Process cash transactions and maintain accurate cash application records.
- Research and resolve accounting issues and outstanding balances.
- Assist with audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance initiatives.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to answer accounting-related questions and provide financial insights.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Analyze financial data and support special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3+ years of accounting or finance experience.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of month-end close and financial reporting processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, reconciliations).
- Experience with bank reconciliations, cash applications, and cash management activities.
- Exposure to multi-currency accounting and financial statement reporting.
- Experience using SAP, S/4HANA, or a comparable ERP system.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
