Job Title: Testing Project Manager
Job Description
The Testing Project Manager leads the planning, coordination, and execution of testing initiatives across complex, field-based projects. This role ensures that systems, processes, and equipment are thoroughly tested and validated prior to launch, minimizing risk and driving high-quality outcomes. The position requires a high level of ownership, strong cross-functional coordination, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments while consistently meeting testing milestones and supporting successful project go-lives.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end testing strategy and execution across multiple projects to ensure readiness for launch.
- Define testing scope, timelines, and success criteria in alignment with overall project goals and requirements.
- Coordinate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to execute comprehensive test plans and resolve defects.
- Track and manage defects, risks, and dependencies, driving timely resolution and mitigation to keep projects on schedule.
- Lead test events such as system validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), and operational testing, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.
- Monitor testing progress, provide regular status updates, and escalate risks or issues to leadership when needed.
- Validate system performance, throughput, and operational readiness against defined standards and acceptance criteria.
- Identify gaps, bottlenecks, and failure points in systems and processes, and implement corrective actions to improve outcomes.
- Troubleshoot system, process, and operational issues, performing root cause analysis to minimize impact on project timelines.
- Facilitate test review meetings, document test results, and clearly communicate findings, decisions, and next steps.
- Partner closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure solutions meet both functional and technical requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in testing processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple concurrent projects.
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise project updates, including risk assessments and executive summaries, for leadership audiences.
- Support project coordination activities related to testing, including scheduling, change order impacts, and alignment with broader project plans.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 4–7 years of experience in project management, testing, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience coordinating testing efforts across cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex issues and data.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system, process, and operational issues.
- Experience performing root cause analysis in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear updates and documentation.
- Ability to operate with a high level of ownership and accountability.
- Capability to manage cross-functional dependencies and maintain alignment on testing milestones.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in system implementation, operations, or engineering environments.
- Familiarity with system validation practices and defect management processes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to influence decisions and drive alignment across diverse teams.
- Experience leading process improvement initiatives related to testing or project delivery.
- Experience in project management or construction management, including project coordination and change order support.
- Experience working in field-based project environments is highly beneficial.
Work Environment
This is a field-based role that requires a significant on-site presence at project locations to oversee and execute testing activities. The position involves up to 80% domestic travel, including extended travel periods that may span consecutive weeks and include weekends, depending on project needs. The work environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, with frequent interaction with engineering, operations, and vendor teams. The role centers on system implementation, validation, and operational readiness within complex project settings, requiring adaptability to different facilities and operational conditions. Attire should be appropriate for professional, on-site project work and may vary based on specific site requirements and safety considerations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $58.00/hr.
