Job Description
This role combines studio leadership and senior architectural expertise to manage a small, collaborative team delivering complex healthcare projects across New York City. The Architectural Manager oversees day-to-day studio operations, leads multiple projects from concept through construction administration, and serves as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders. This position is ideal for a seasoned healthcare architect who enjoys mentoring others, balancing studio oversight with hands-on project work, and driving high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 8–10 architects and designers, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and growth-oriented studio culture.
- Serve as the primary team leader and escalation point for staffing, performance, and people-related matters.
- Oversee day-to-day studio operations, including workload planning, resource allocation, and coordination of project assignments.
- Monitor and approve timesheets to support accurate reporting and overall studio efficiency.
- Manage multiple healthcare projects from concept design through construction administration, including both new construction and renovation work.
- Oversee all phases of project delivery and review drawings for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards and codes.
- Maintain clear visibility into project schedules, scopes, and deliverables to ensure timely and successful completion.
- Act as a primary client contact, managing expectations and building strong, long-term working relationships.
- Coordinate effectively with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders to align goals and ensure project success.
- Lead and guide project production efforts, providing technical direction and oversight with a strong command of Revit.
- Ensure all projects meet healthcare regulations, codes, and best practices, including Department of Health–regulated requirements.
- Review and oversee technical documentation throughout all project phases to maintain consistency and quality.
- Balance studio management responsibilities with hands-on involvement in design, documentation, and construction administration.
- Make confident, informed decisions on project and studio matters while maintaining a client-focused, detail-oriented approach.
- Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in architecture.
- Extensive background in healthcare architecture, including hospitals, surgical centers, and Department of Health–regulated projects.
- Proven experience managing teams and leading multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle from concept through construction administration.
- Expert-level proficiency in Revit with deep technical capability in project production.
- Proficiency in architectural design and design management for complex healthcare projects.
- Experience delivering projects across New York City, particularly in Brooklyn.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, motivate, and develop a team.
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and coordination with stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance studio oversight and project responsibilities.

The role is based in a new, professional office environment with a small team of approximately 8–10 people. The studio operates as a highly collaborative setting where team members work closely together on complex healthcare projects. The standard schedule is five days in the office, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., supporting consistent communication, mentorship, and hands-on project involvement. The work culture emphasizes close collaboration, long-term growth opportunities, and engagement with large, reputable clients. A bonus structure is offered around the holiday season, reflecting recognition of team contributions and performance.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
