Position: Medical Assistant

Location: Suffern, NY

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role is essential in ensuring efficient patient flow, exceptional care, and seamless administrative support within our medical office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Coordination:
    • Monitor patient arrivals and assist with patient flow to ensure smooth operations.
    • Greet patients and visitors promptly with professionalism and courtesy.
    • Escort patients to exam rooms and monitor wait times while keeping physicians informed.
  • Clinical Support:
    • Obtain and record patient information, including chief complaints, medical histories, vital signs, venipuncture, specimen collection, and allergies.
    • Perform and assist with clinical services such as EKGs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing.
    • Prepare patients for exams and assist during examinations if required.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Document results in electronic medical records (EMRs) accurately within the scope of practice.
    • Update patient information, including medical insurance eligibility, in the EMR system.
    • Ensure lab and medical reports are prepared and on record prior to appointments.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Maintain examination rooms in a clean, organized, and stocked condition.
    • Verify and manage supply orders and ensure accuracy against packing slips.
    • Uphold strict confidentiality of patient health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficient in taking vital signs, documenting in EMR systems, and scheduling patient appointments.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA rules and maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Experience performing EKGs and phlebotomy.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of healthcare experience.
  • Medical assisting certification required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Epic EMR systems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • A friendly and professional demeanor with a passion for patient care.
