CNC Machine Operator $22-$25/hr 2nd & 3rd shifts! Cincinnati, Ohio
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate EDM (electro-discharge) machines, including conventional and 5-axis EDM equipment, to produce precision machined parts.
- Load and set up parts in the machine according to job specifications and production schedules.
- Inspect parts for quality while orders are running to ensure they meet required tolerances and specifications.
- Perform detailed quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measurement tools.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and drawings to set up and run jobs accurately.
- Monitor machine operation and troubleshoot issues, identifying and correcting defects or irregularities in machinery or processes.
- Prepare and maintain production logs (travelers) and records to document machine operation, part counts, and daily production activity.
- Set up, change over, and switch jobs as required, following standard operating procedures and training.
- Maintain more than 98% efficiency on a daily basis while ensuring high-quality output and minimizing scrap.
- Work with various EDM technologies, including water-based, oil-based, and wire EDM machines, as well as modified Haas equipment.
- Handle and machine expensive aerospace turbine engine parts with a strong focus on quality and care to avoid scrapping parts.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Lift and move materials and parts up to 50 pounds as needed to support production.
- Collaborate with team members, leads, and support staff to resolve issues and maintain smooth production flow.
Essential Skills
- Experience setting up and operating CNC or other metal machining equipment.
- Hands-on experience using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement devices and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Basic computer skills for operating machines and completing production documentation.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with complex machinery and tooling.
- Ability to work with close tolerances and understand dimensional accuracy.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and write English to complete documentation and onboarding questionnaires.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and in a production environment with potentially loud noise levels.
- Eligibility to work in the United States, with required identification and completion of compliance forms.
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE) consistently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous EDM operating experience, including sinker EDM or wire EDM.
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing or machining environment.
- Familiarity with G-code, CNC programming concepts, and machine setup.
- Experience working in a machine shop environment with machining, grinding, and tooling.
- Knowledge of axis controls and multi-axis machining (including 5-axis).
- Experience with changeovers, machine setup, and running machined parts to specification.
- Comfort working with EDM machines that are water-based, oil-based, or wire EDM.
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset, especially when working with high-value aerospace components.

Work Environment
This role is based in a high-volume production facility that houses over 150 EDM machines, with most production areas temperature-controlled for operator comfort. The environment includes both conventional and 5-axis EDM machines, many of which are custom-built and heavily modified, including Haas-based systems and other advanced CNC platforms. You will work with various EDM technologies such as water-based, oil-based, and wire EDM machines, producing high-precision turbine engine aerospace parts. The work requires frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds and the ability to work in confined spaces around machinery and fixtures. Noise levels in the facility may be loud at times, and you must consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and other safety gear as needed. Shifts follow structured schedules, including day and night shifts (for example, Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. and Friday 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. for days, or Monday through Thursday 5:30 p.m.–4:00 a.m. and Friday 3:30 p.m.–1:00 a.m. for nights), supporting a steady and predictable production environment focused on precision, safety, and quality.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
