Job Title: Vessel Fleet Mechanic

Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Vessel Fleet Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, including marine vessels, industrial machinery, and support vehicles. This role requires strong mechanical expertise, hands-on experience with various tools and systems, and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment. The Vessel Fleet Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring operational safety, reliability, and compliance across our fleet operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vessels and fleet.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, software, and technical manuals.
- Repair and overhaul engines, electrical, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and other mechanical components.
- Service and repair heavy machinery including tugboats.
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely to complete repairs efficiently.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including diagnostics and soldering tasks.
- Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and comply with industry regulations.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and parts used.
- Assist in the training of junior technicians when necessary.
- Remain up-to-date with industry advancements and new vessel technologies.
- Keep work area clean and organized, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained.

Work Environment
Our facility is a state-of-the-art full-service shipyard for new vessel and barge construction, fabrication, maintenance, and repairs. It includes a 900-ton mobile Travelift and is located in the Old River Channel on the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio. The shipyard boasts approximately 2,000 linear feet of waterfront, with an additional 3,800 lineal feet available on the Cuyahoga River proximate to the Shipyard.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $54080.00/hr.
