Utility Operator($24/hr.+)
Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and proactive Utility Worker to join our team in a steel manufacturing environment. The Utility Worker plays a crucial role in facilitating setup activities, assisting operators, material handling, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This is a long term placement. We offer weekly pay with overtime paying time and a half. We also offer benefits as well.
Employees must be open to union environment and shift*
Employees receive a $2.00/hr. pay increase after 4 months.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate setup activities as requested by the operator.
- Assist operators by pulling heaters after stoppages.
- Reinsert pieces back on the line at line loaders.
- Assist crane operators by hooking up and clearing pit jams.
- Guide completed 1st ends from take-away conveyor to the rack.
- Manage exit ends on the conveyor when racks are full.
- Verify all bundles have tags with part and heat codes.
- Clean the coater and the press rack.
- Operate the pallet conveyor to position full skids without stopping the press.
- Monitor heat changes to ensure they are not mixed and inform the operator when necessary.
- Notify the operator if materials are not suitable for the coater due to rust, oil, or contamination.
- Run sonic reject pieces during downtime and at the end of jobs.

Work Environment
This is a union environment requiring openness to all shifts. Shift differentials are offered for off shifts. The forging environment is heavy industrial and not temperature-controlled, suitable for individuals familiar with such settings. Shifts include 1st (6:30am - 2:30pm), 2nd (2:30pm - 10:30pm), and 3rd (10:30pm - 6:30am), with overtime applicable after 8 hours of work.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.22 - $24.22/hr.
