Job Description
The Field Service Technician role is a hands-on position that combines technical problem-solving with strong communication and customer service. You will travel to customer sites to install, maintain, and repair equipment, working both independently and as part of a team to ensure reliable operation and high customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer locations to perform installation, maintenance, and repair service work on assigned equipment.
- Provide accurate and timely documentation, including monthly expense reports, daily service call reports, weekly inventory tracking, and detailed field service reports.
- Maintain thorough records of all service visits, clearly noting technical issues encountered and corrective actions taken.
- Prioritize workload in coordination with leadership to support an efficient and cost-effective preventative maintenance schedule.
- Independently execute assigned tasks while adhering to established procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and PLC devices, using effective problem-solving skills.
- Address customer concerns and technical questions promptly and professionally, ensuring issues are resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
- Work a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility to respond to emergency service calls as directed, which may occasionally occur at night, on weekends, or on holidays.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customer personnel by providing courteous, professional, and reliable service.
- Provide customer training on equipment and products as needed, ensuring users understand proper operation and basic troubleshooting.
- Assist at other locations or customer sites as required based on business needs, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
- Technical aptitude in plumbing systems, including installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Technical aptitude in electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve electrical issues safely.
- Mechanical aptitude, including familiarity with mechanical maintenance and repair practices.
- Experience or aptitude with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) devices and related control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple service calls, documentation, and travel schedules.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for communication, reporting, and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining accountable for results.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 0–2 years of related experience.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Prior experience in a field service, maintenance, or technical support role is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or PLC-based equipment in an industrial or commercial environment is beneficial.
- Comfort with maintaining detailed service records and completing administrative tasks accurately and on time.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules, customer needs, and business priorities.
- Capacity to learn new technologies, equipment, and software tools as needed.
- Strong customer service orientation and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Work Environment
This role is primarily field-based, with frequent travel to customer locations. You will work in a variety of environments, including commercial and industrial facilities, where you will interact directly with customer personnel and equipment. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the need to respond to occasional emergency service calls during nights, weekends, or holidays as directed. You will use standard tools and equipment related to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and PLC systems, along with a laptop or mobile device for documentation and communication. The position requires safe work practices in diverse onsite conditions and adherence to any site-specific safety and attire requirements.

This is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.02 - $25.02/hr.
