Job Title: Forklift Mechanic: $25-30/hr
Job Description
This role focuses on performing maintenance, repair, replacement, and troubleshooting on various models of material handling equipment, including propane and electric forklifts. You will ensure that all equipment at internal customer locations operates safely, reliably, and efficiently by completing service tasks accurately, on time, and in a cost-effective manner.

Monday - Friday 6am-2:30pm
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement work on a wide range of material handling equipment, including propane and electric forklifts.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on material handling equipment to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and extend the life of forklifts and related equipment.
- Travel between multiple warehouse sites to service and repair equipment at internal customer locations.
- Use electrical and hydraulic system schematics to diagnose and repair equipment accurately.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork and data entry related to service calls, repairs, maintenance activities, and parts usage.
- Maintain and use an adequate set of personal tools required to perform daily repair and maintenance tasks.
- Operate equipment safely once properly certified, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with internal customers to understand equipment issues and provide clear updates on repair status.
- Deliver professional customer service by responding promptly, addressing concerns, and ensuring customer requirements are met.
- Follow established maintenance schedules and prioritize work to minimize equipment downtime.
- Adhere to safety standards and best practices while lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, and reaching during service tasks.
- Collaborate with other technicians and team members to share knowledge and support continuous improvement in maintenance processes.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and pneumatics as they relate to heavy equipment and forklifts.
- Experience in repair and maintenance of material handling equipment.
- 1–2 years of specific experience working with material handling equipment, including forklifts.
- Hands-on experience with propane and electric forklifts.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment and diesel-powered systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics.
- Proficiency with required data input and paperwork to support all job requirements.
- Capability to become certified to operate material handling equipment.
- Basic computer knowledge, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Technical school training in automotive, diesel, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience as a maintenance technician working with forklifts or other material handling equipment.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance programs in warehouse or industrial environments.
- Strong attention to detail when documenting work performed and completing service reports.
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites while managing time and priorities effectively.
- Comfort working with heavy equipment and in fast-paced warehouse operations.
- Willingness to maintain and update personal tool sets as needed to support evolving maintenance requirements.

Work Environment
This role is based in a warehouse and industrial setting, with regular travel between four different warehouse sites to service material handling equipment. You will work around forklifts and other heavy equipment. The position requires safe operation of material handling equipment once certified and regular use of personal tools, along with basic computer systems and Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
