Maintenance Technician $25-$36/hr
Job Description
The Maintenance Engineer will support high-speed packaging lines in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, focusing primarily on reactive maintenance with some proactive work. The role centers on keeping new lines running at optimal performance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring reliable operation of equipment that processes up to 300 bottles per minute.
Responsibilities
- Perform reactive maintenance on high-speed packaging lines, addressing equipment issues quickly to minimize downtime.
- Carry out proactive and preventive maintenance tasks to improve equipment reliability and extend asset life.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including conveyors, bearings, belts, drives, and motors.
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving hydraulics and pneumatics on production and packaging equipment.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics to identify and resolve equipment problems.
- Perform basic PLC troubleshooting to assist in identifying control-related issues on packaging lines.
- Support the operation of new packaging lines capable of 300 bottles per minute, ensuring they run efficiently and safely.
- Work in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including proper gowning procedures in designated areas.
- Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and production staff to prioritize work and meet production schedules.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage as required by internal procedures and GMP standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Assist with equipment changeovers, adjustments, and line setups as needed to support production demands.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills on production or packaging equipment.
- Hands-on experience with conveyor maintenance, including bearings, belts, drives, and motors.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics for troubleshooting purposes.
- Experience with basic PLC troubleshooting on industrial equipment.
- Comfort working in a GMP-regulated environment with adherence to procedures and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively on a second shift schedule (Tuesday–Saturday).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Maintenance experience in pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or distribution environments.
- Experience in distribution operations considered transferable and beneficial.
- Experience working on high-speed packaging lines or bottling equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-technician maintenance team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability and uptime.

Work Environment
The role is based in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility that operates under GMP standards. The work environment is very clean and fully climate-controlled, with specific areas requiring proper gowning procedures. The culture is relaxed yet focused, with reasonable expectations and deadlines. The Maintenance Engineer will work alongside three other technicians on the shift, within a department of approximately 13 technicians across all shifts, and will have a direct supervisor for support and guidance

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $36.00/hr.
