Job Description
This role operates vacuum trucks and hydro vac equipment to support cleaning, maintenance, and production activities at a corn and grain processing facility. You will perform physical general labor, including shoveling corn and grain, cleaning and wiping down machinery inside and outside the facility, and safely handling non-hazardous chemicals during cleaning tasks. The position involves working primarily outdoors with some indoor work, using lift equipment and forklifts as needed, and supporting both reactive maintenance and scheduled repairs.
Responsibilities
- Operate vacuum trucks and hydro vac equipment safely and efficiently to support cleaning and maintenance activities.
- Perform general labor tasks, including shoveling corn and grain and removing debris from work areas.
- Clean and wipe down machinery and equipment inside and outside the facility to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
- Handle and use non-hazardous chemicals for cleaning in accordance with safety procedures and site guidelines.
- Support reactive maintenance and troubleshooting activities on outdoor systems and equipment as needed.
- Assist with preventive maintenance (PMs) and repair tasks in the shop environment under the direction of site leadership.
- Use forklifts, lift trucks, and other material handling equipment to move tools, equipment, and materials safely.
- Work at heights up to 100 feet on catwalks and in boom lifts while following all fall protection and safety protocols.
- Adapt to a work schedule that may include rotating on-call assignments every few weeks.
- Adjust work hours or shifts as needed to support vacation coverage, extended time off, pressing projects, or client-driven schedule changes.
- Follow all site safety rules, procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area both indoors and outdoors.
- Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors about work status, safety concerns, and equipment issues.
- Support transition activities as the current site approaches closure, with the potential to move to other sites within the network.
- Experience operating or working with vacuum trucks or hydro vac equipment, or closely related vacuum or water blast equipment.
- Background in general production or general labor roles involving physical, hands-on work.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as shoveling, lifting, and working on your feet for extended periods.
- Comfort working primarily outdoors (approximately 80% of the time) in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely handle non-hazardous chemicals during cleaning tasks while following safety procedures.
- Capability to work at heights up to 100 feet, including on catwalks and in boom lifts, with appropriate safety measures.
- Willingness to work rotating on-call schedules and adjust shifts when needed for coverage or project demands.
- Strong adherence to safety practices and willingness to follow all site rules and guidelines.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work a standard first-shift schedule (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday).
- Experience with lift equipment such as forklifts and lift trucks is preferred.
- Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor industrial environments.
- Ability to adapt to changing work priorities, including urgent maintenance or cleaning needs.
- Willingness to transition to other sites within the organization as the current site approaches closure in the coming 20–40 months.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors.
- Attention to detail when cleaning machinery and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Work Environment
The work takes place at an industrial corn and grain processing facility where raw materials are broken down into oils, sauces, and related products. You will split your time between outdoor areas, where you support reactive maintenance and troubleshooting, and an indoor shop environment, where you assist with preventive maintenance and repairs. The role requires working at heights up to 100 feet on catwalks and in boom lifts, and navigating both indoor and outdoor conditions throughout the day. You will use vacuum trucks, hydro vac equipment, forklifts, lift trucks, and other industrial tools while handling non-hazardous chemicals for cleaning. The position follows a first-shift schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with rotating on-call duties every few weeks and occasional schedule changes to support coverage, pressing projects, or client-driven needs. The facility environment is industrial and safety-focused, with appropriate personal protective equipment and attire required in all work areas.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
