Job Title: Production Lead - 1st Shift
Job Description
The Production Lead oversees 1st shift operations in a manufacturing facility, ensuring high-quality output, efficient processes, and effective team coordination. This role focuses on quality control, training and development, cross-training, and continuous improvement while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Review weekly quality control reports and take timely corrective action on identified issues.
- Participate in weekly quality meetings to help set and implement team-specific quality goals.
- Engage in team lead meetings to identify and resolve shop-wide operational and production challenges.
- Document and recommend improvements to new hire training procedures to enhance onboarding effectiveness.
- Ensure full compliance with the new hire onboarding schedule and related training milestones.
- Manage and track cross-training efforts to maintain staffing flexibility across production lines and workstations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on production efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Oversee general production activities, including machine operation, assembly, and production line workflow.
- Promote and uphold lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve processes.
- Monitor team performance and provide coaching and development to support employee growth.
- Collaborate with quality and operations teams to address process issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure safe operation of equipment, including forklifts and hand tools, in compliance with safety guidelines.
- Maintain clear communication across shifts to support consistent production and quality standards.
- Contribute to a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement on the production floor.
Essential Skills
- Proven leadership experience in a production or operations environment.
- Hands-on manufacturing experience in a plant or factory setting.
- Ability to interpret and act on quality control reports and performance data.
- Experience supervising or leading teams on a production line or in general labor settings.
- Strong understanding of production processes, machine operation, and assembly work.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and process improvement practices.
- Ability to coordinate cross-training and manage staffing flexibility across different roles.
- Competence in using hand tools and operating production equipment safely.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in door manufacturing or similar building products production is a plus.
- Background in production management or production supervision is highly beneficial.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfort with operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment, following safety protocols.
- Ability to contribute to and participate in team lead and quality-focused meetings.
- Strong communication skills to document training procedures and recommend improvements.
- Interest in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Etna, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $63502.00 - $63502.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
