1st Shift - CNC Machinist - Pay up to $27/hr

Job Description:
This role focuses on setting up, operating, and adjusting CNC mills and lathes to produce high-quality precision parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will interpret blueprints, make basic program edits at the machine, and use precision measuring tools to ensure all components meet tight tolerances and quality standards while maintaining a strong focus on safety and productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Set up CNC machines with the correct materials, tools, and fixtures according to job requirements.
- Adjust machine speeds, feeds, and offsets to meet specifications and improve performance.
- Operate CNC mills and/or lathes safely to produce parts within required tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements.
- Make basic edits or adjustments to CNC programs directly at the machine when needed.
- Check CNC programs for accuracy and update them to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions.
- Monitor machine operations continuously to ensure consistent quality and detect issues early.
- Identify, report, and help resolve quality issues, taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished parts using cranes, hoists, or other lifting equipment.
- Handle materials carefully to prevent damage and maintain smooth production flow.
- Keep machines, tooling, and workstations in good condition and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area in line with 5S standards.
- Follow all company safety rules, procedures, and work instructions at all times.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and remain alert to potential hazards.
- Work closely with teammates, communicate effectively, and support a strong team environment.
- Produce high-quality finished parts that meet customer and internal specifications.
- Maintain strong productivity and efficiency while meeting on-time delivery expectations.
- Follow all quality standards and procedures to meet customer requirements.
- Proactively identify and address safety or quality issues to support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic machining knowledge with the ability to produce parts from blueprint to finished product.
- Experience running CNC mills and/or lathes, gained through formal training or hands-on work.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and machining drawings.
- Ability to safely operate cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment.
- Understanding of shop math, including algebra and trigonometry, to support machining operations.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Capability to stand for long periods of time during the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely.
- Ability to work in an environment with noise and heat.
- Good hand–eye coordination and manual dexterity for using tools and operating machinery.
- Ability to follow all safety requirements and wear required PPE.
- Ability to follow quality standards and procedures to meet customer requirements.
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety or quality issues.
- Ability to work effectively with team members in a manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment preferred.
- Experience with CNC program edits and basic troubleshooting at the machine.
- Familiarity with mills, lathes, and general machining processes.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues.
- Experience with changeovers and setting up different jobs on CNC equipment.
- Comfort using various shop equipment and tools in a production environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
