Job Title: Field Supervisor
Pay: $30/hr.+ based on experience
The Field Supervisor oversees fiber optic installation, repair, and maintenance activities in the field, ensuring all work meets strict quality and safety standards. This role combines hands-on technical expertise in fiber optics with strong leadership in quality control, safety compliance, and customer communication.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily field operations for fiber optic installations, repairs, and maintenance activities on commercial construction sites.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of work performed by construction and splicing crews to verify compliance with industry standards and quality requirements.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure all completed work meets project specifications and performance expectations.
- Ensure all field activities follow established safety protocols, regulations, and best practices.
- Conduct safety training sessions for field crews and reinforce safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Monitor safety performance in the field and take corrective action when unsafe conditions or behaviors are identified.
- Apply deep technical knowledge of fiber optic technology, including splicing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables and components.
- Identify and resolve technical issues in the field, ensuring timely and effective troubleshooting of fiber optic networks.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding project status, technical issues, and resolution plans.
- Collaborate with construction and splicing teams to coordinate work schedules and ensure efficient project execution.
- Document quality control findings, safety observations, and technical issues, and provide feedback to improve field processes.

- Proven experience overseeing field operations in an outside plant (OSP) or commercial construction environment.
- Quality control for installation, repair, and maintenance work.
- In-depth technical expertise in fiber optic technology, including splicing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables and components.
- Solid understanding of safety protocols, regulations, and best practices for field operations.
- Ability to conduct safety training and enforce safety guidelines with field crews.
- Effective troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in the field.
- Strong customer communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and professionally.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections, audits, and documentation.
