Job Title: Traveling Superintendent
Job Description
The Traveling Superintendent oversees the planning and execution of complex concrete-focused construction projects across multiple locations. This role works closely with the operational team to develop comprehensive project plans, prepare field teams for execution, and ensure that project goals for safety, schedule, quality, and budget are consistently achieved. Typical projects include data centers, hospitals, educational facilities, industrial buildings, and parking garages.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage the execution phase for assigned portions of commercial and industrial construction projects, with a strong focus on self-performed concrete work.
- Collaborate with the operational team to develop detailed project plans, schedules, and sequencing for your phase of work.
- Prepare and organize field teams to execute work using defined planning processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Monitor daily field activities to ensure project execution goals are met for your portion of work, including safety, quality, schedule, and productivity targets.
- Review and interpret project information, drawings, and specifications to coordinate work and resolve issues in the field.
- Identify potential obstacles and opportunities in your phase of work and proactively recommend solutions or improvements.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure materials, equipment, and resources are available when needed.
- Conduct regular site walks and inspections to verify that concrete and related construction work meets project requirements and industry standards.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and changes to the project team in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on every job site.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience working for a self-performing general contractor or concrete contractor.
- Proven self-perform concrete construction experience, including oversight of concrete operations in the field.
- Hands-on experience with commercial and/or industrial construction projects.
- Strong understanding of concrete construction methods, sequencing, and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage field activities for a defined phase of work.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working with field teams and project stakeholders.
- Ability to identify obstacles and opportunities in project execution and take proactive action.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience on large-scale projects such as data centers, hospitals, educational facilities, industrial buildings, or parking garages.
- Experience in commercial concrete construction in the Midwest or similar markets.
- Experience working in a traveling superintendent capacity or on multi-location projects.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to adapt to different project types and environments while maintaining consistent performance.
Work Environment
This role is a traveling field position that requires regular work on active construction sites for a variety of project types, including data centers, hospitals, educational facilities, industrial projects, and parking garages. You will spend most of your time on-site, coordinating and supervising concrete and related construction activities in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment. The company supports travel by providing relocation assistance, per diem, lodging, and coverage for all travel-related needs. You will work closely with project managers, field crews, and trade partners in a collaborative, team-oriented culture that values safety, quality workmanship, and professional growth.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Plain City, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
Full medical, dental, and vision insurance. Willing to pay relocation, get truck allowance, phone allowance. Pay for all travel and lodging.
