Job Description
The Material Handler safely and efficiently moves materials throughout multiple facilities to support production and other departments. This role operates forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to transport large skids and inventory, while assisting with tasks in various environments as needed. The position requires consistent attention to safety, accuracy, and organization in a busy metal fabrication setting.
Responsibilities
- Gather and transport materials to various departments across multiple facilities in a timely and efficient manner.
- Operate an overhead crane to move large skids and other heavy items safely and accurately.
- Use forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and relocate materials as required.
- Support inventory movement by staging, organizing, and replenishing materials in designated areas.
- Assist with tasks in other environments and departments as needed to support overall operations.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate material flow and priorities.
- Inspect equipment before use and report any issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Previous forklift operation experience required, with comfort operating a forklift approximately 60% of the time.
- Material handling experience in an industrial or similar environment.
- Ability to operate an overhead crane or willingness to learn overhead crane operation.
- Experience using pallet jacks and other basic material handling tools.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds as needed throughout the shift.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong commitment to working safely and following established procedures.
- Ability to work both on a forklift and off of it, adapting to changing tasks and priorities.
- Previous overhead crane experience preferred.
- Experience working in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment is beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills to manage materials and maintain an orderly workspace.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and other departments.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.

This is a Contract position based out of Salem, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
