Job Description
This temporary Machine Operator position supports a brick and paver manufacturing facility by performing manual sorting, material handling, and basic machine operation. The role is on 1st shift, working from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and involves both indoor and outdoor work in a fast-paced production environment. While the position is temporary, there is potential for it to become permanent, though this is not guaranteed.
Responsibilities
- Manually sort bricks on a production table for extended periods, ensuring quality and consistency of product.
- Perform heavy lifting of materials and products, regularly handling items weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Operate basic production machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to established procedures.
- Spend designated time operating a forklift or single lift to move pallets and materials as directed, once trained and authorized.
- Palletize finished products, including stacking, wrapping, and preparing pallets for storage or shipment.
- Unwrap pallets and organize materials for use in production or further processing.
- Assist with general clean-up tasks in the production area to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safe work practices.
- Work both indoors and outdoors as needed, adapting to changing weather and facility conditions.
- Collaborate with production team members and supervisors to meet daily safety, quality, and production goals.

Work Environment
The facility manufactures bricks and paver stones for construction and operates as a high-volume production plant. It is not temperature controlled, so temperatures inside reflect outdoor weather conditions and can vary significantly throughout the year. The work area can become dusty due to the materials used in production. The production team consists of roughly 50 employees working across four shifts, creating a busy, collaborative environment. Work includes both indoor and outdoor tasks, and employees may operate or work around forklifts and other manufacturing equipment. Appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial, dusty, and variable-temperature environment is required, along with any necessary personal protective equipment provided on site
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sheffield, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
