Job Description
This role operates powered industrial equipment to safely move, store, and retrieve materials within a distribution center. The Forklift Operator supports inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and shipping activities by performing material handling, picking, packing, and loading tasks with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and quality. Responsibilities
- Operate powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and turret trucks, safely and efficiently in a busy distribution center.
- Load, unload, transport, stack, and retrieve materials, including at elevated storage locations, while maintaining proper pallet configuration and secure loads.
- Perform routine equipment inspections before use and promptly report any safety or maintenance concerns to ensure equipment remains in safe working condition.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while operating equipment and performing all warehouse tasks.
- Pick and retrieve products using pick lists, RF scanners, or system-directed methods to support order fulfillment and replenishment activities.
- Verify product descriptions, quantities, and locations to ensure order accuracy and prevent inventory discrepancies.
- Pack, label, and stage orders in a manner that minimizes damage and supports efficient shipment and loading.
- Maintain established accuracy and productivity standards across all assigned tasks, including picking, packing, loading, and inventory-related activities.
- Support shipping and receiving operations by loading and unloading trailers, staging pallets, and assisting with inventory control.
- Handle materials using pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment as needed to support production and distribution workflows.
- Perform general warehouse duties such as sorting, packaging, assembly, and data entry related to inventory and order processing.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of forklift experience operating powered industrial equipment in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Proficiency operating forklifts and related equipment such as reach trucks, order pickers, turret trucks, and pallet jacks.
- Experience with picking and packing orders in a production or warehouse setting.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs safely and repeatedly during the shift.
- Experience with order picking and material handling in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to use RF scanners or similar handheld devices for order picking and inventory control.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, including loading, unloading, and staging materials.
- Basic data entry skills to support inventory control and order processing.
- Ability to follow safety policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements consistently.
- Strong attention to detail to verify product descriptions, quantities, and locations accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a distribution center or warehouse production environment.
- Experience in inventory control, including counting, tracking, and verifying stock.
- Exposure to general labor tasks such as sorting, packaging, assembly, and loading.
- Comfort working with order picking systems, pick lists, and system-directed workflows.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Work Environment
The position is based in a distribution center environment on 2nd shift, with hours scheduled Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The work involves operating forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, turret trucks, pallet jacks, and RF scanners around racking, elevated storage, and loading docks. The setting is fast-paced and production-oriented, with frequent movement, lifting up to 40 lbs, and exposure to typical warehouse conditions such as varying temperatures, noise from equipment, and frequent interaction with other team members and equipment traffic.
