Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated production equipment across frozen, cooked, and packaging areas in a food manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Technician sets up production lines, responds to maintenance calls, performs preventive maintenance using a computerized maintenance management system, and ensures reliable operation of electrical, mechanical, and robotic systems.
Responsibilities
- Set up and prepare production lines in the frozen, cooked, and packaging areas for operation.
- Respond promptly to maintenance calls from the production floor and minimize equipment downtime.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities assigned through the Fiix CMMS and document all work completed.
- Realign, diagnose, and repair meat slicing machines (“Grody’s”) on grill lines throughout the shift.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot control panels that include PLCs, transformers, drives, servo drives, and Honeywell burner controls.
- Work with large electrical cabinets containing multiple drives and servo drives, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
- Connect a laptop to PLCs and drives to diagnose issues, load programs from the server, and verify proper functionality.
- Work safely on electrical systems ranging from 24V to 480V, following established safety practices and procedures.
- Remove, diagnose, repair, and replace motors and servo motors as needed to support production.
- Maintain and repair mechanical systems on production lines, including gearboxes, shafts, chain sprockets, and conveyors.
- Support maintenance of wrapping machines on the cooked side, addressing frequent issues to maintain packaging efficiency.
- Maintain and troubleshoot robotic lines using Codian robots (suction) and Fanuc robots (palletizing), ensuring consistent operation.
- Adjust robotic line parameters through HMIs to optimize performance and resolve operational issues.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electromagnetic track systems, light curtains, photo eyes, sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Perform infrequent but critical maintenance on the flash freezing room and boiler systems as required.
- Collaborate with a team of technicians and leads to prioritize tasks and support continuous production operations.
- Follow food production sanitation and safety practices at all times, including proper use of protective attire and hygiene protocols.
- Participate in the yearly shutdown by performing intensive maintenance activities over the full shutdown period.
- 3–5 years of electro-mechanical maintenance experience working with systems up to 480V.
- Ability to understand and interpret electrical schematics for diagnostic and troubleshooting purposes.
- Ability to read and understand ladder logic in PLCs to identify and resolve control system issues.
- Experience pulling programs from a server and loading them into drives and PLCs using a laptop.
- Hands-on mechanical maintenance experience with motors and gearboxes.
- Experience working with Allen-Bradley equipment, including Allen-Bradley PLCs.
- Proficiency with PowerFlex drives, including PowerFlex 525 drives.
- Experience with Ultra 3000 and Kinetix 5500 servo systems.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting servo motors.
- Experience with Fanuc robotics for palletizing applications.
- Experience with Codian robotics for suction-based applications.
- Experience with conveyor maintenance in an industrial environment.
- Familiarity with Fiix CMMS or similar computerized maintenance management systems.
- Ability to safely work on electrical systems from 24V up to 480V.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical components such as gearboxes, shafts, and chain sprockets.
- Experience in a food production or similar sanitary manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Honeywell burner controls and related combustion systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining electromagnetic track systems.
- Experience working with light curtains, photo eyes, sensors, and safety devices.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems used in automated production lines.
- Comfort using HMIs to adjust parameters and monitor robotic and automated equipment.
- Ability to work effectively on a team of maintenance technicians and leads across multiple shifts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex electrical and mechanical issues under time constraints.
- Willingness to work 3rd shift, including scheduled weekend work and a full week during yearly shutdown.

Work Environment
The work environment is a clean, climate-controlled food production facility that adheres to strict sanitation and safety practices. Team members follow food safety protocols, including wearing beard and hair nets, smocks, and using hand washing stations before entering new areas. The maintenance team consists of approximately six technicians and two leads on each shift, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. This position is on 3rd shift, typically from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with work scheduled on two Saturdays per month and a yearly shutdown period during which maintenance works all seven days. The role involves working with technologies such as PowerFlex 525 drives, Ultra 3000 and Kinetix 5500 servo motors, Codian and Fanuc robots, electromagnetic track systems, conveyor systems, and the Fiix CMMS. Slip-resistant shoes are required, and technicians are expected to bring their own appropriate footwear.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.75 - $30.75/hr.
