Job Description
The Human Resources Assistant supports the HR Director in managing day-to-day HR operations across multiple locations. This role is ideal for an organized and adaptable professional who is eager to grow in the HR field. You will contribute to full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, payroll support, and HR administration while helping to improve processes and maintain clear communication between leadership and employees.
Responsibilities
- Assist the HR Director with daily human resources operations across multiple sites.
- Support full-cycle recruiting by drafting and posting job descriptions, screening candidates, and coordinating interviews.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and assist with headcount planning.
- Maintain and update employee records and HR documentation with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist with onboarding and new hire orientation, including coordinating schedules and setting up desks and workspaces for new employees.
- Coordinate interview scheduling and internal communications related to hiring and HR initiatives.
- Help track and manage open positions, candidate pipelines, and overall hiring progress.
- Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including data entry, clerical tasks, and HR support activities.
- Assist with payroll-related tasks as needed, ensuring timely and accurate processing support.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, HR procedures, and HR best practices in all HR activities.
- Handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to a supportive, team-oriented HR environment.
- 1–2+ years of experience in Human Resources or an administrative support role.
- Demonstrated human resources experience, including HR administration and HR support.
- Experience with recruiting and the hiring process, including candidate screening and interview coordination.
- Onboarding experience, including supporting new hire orientation and setup.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to support a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Data entry skills and attention to accuracy in HR records and documentation.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
- Comfortable working on-site four days per week.
- Ability to pass a drug test prior to starting.
- Experience with HRIS or applicant tracking systems.
- Payroll experience or exposure to payroll processes.
- Experience in clerical and administrative support functions within an HR setting.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset and willingness to take initiative.
- Team-oriented approach with a willingness to help wherever needed.
- Strong general communication skills, both written and verbal.
This role is primarily on-site, with the expectation of working on-site four days per week. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday, structured as four 10-hour shifts to complete a 40-hour workweek. If a five-day schedule of eight hours per day is preferred, the schedule can be adjusted to accommodate that arrangement. You will work in a professional office environment supporting multiple locations, using tools such as Microsoft Office and HR systems to manage HR operations, recruiting, onboarding, and payroll support. The role involves frequent interaction with employees, hiring managers, and leadership, and requires a professional demeanor and appropriate business attire.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wooster, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
