Job Title: Software Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Software Engineer to join our team in supporting a sensor suite upgrade for the CBRNE Stryker Vehicle utilized by the U.S. Army. This role involves development and sustaining of existing applications using modern technologies and methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Program using IntelliJ in a collaborative environment.
- Engage in new development and sustain existing applications.
- Use Ubuntu 22.04 for desktop and server development and deployment.
- Manage source code using Git and track issues with Jira.
- Communicate effectively in writing through various platforms such as Jira, Confluence, and email.
- Participate in all stages of the software engineering lifecycle: requirements gathering, analysis, design, documentation, programming, debugging, and unit testing.
- Estimate scope and effort for tasks accurately.
- Develop software within a larger integrated system and in team settings.
- Apply troubleshooting techniques to overcome challenges.
- Travel periodically for integration sessions and support build, test, or customer events.
- Continually grow and maintain an understanding of system and equipment controls.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Java and Git.
- Experience with software development on Ubuntu, Yocto, and using IntelliJ.
- Competency in network configuration and tools such as ssh and scp.
- Strong problem-solving skills and multi-threaded programming and debugging experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop detailed task plans, estimate effort accurately, and track progress.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in software development preferred.
- Proficiency in unit and automation testing.
- Experience with network and serial device integration.
- Proficiency with Bash scripting and Ubuntu OS, including package configuration and remote console tasks.
- Familiarity with Android and Windows OS.
- Experience creating Mil-STD documentation.
- Ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Understanding of software security practices.
Work Environment
Work is based in a small engineering/R&D environment in Stillwater, OK. The candidate is expected to work onsite as hardware is onsite, with occasional flexibility for remote work if the project permits. The work environment requires close proximity to the Stillwater, OK area to support integration and testing activities.
