Job Title: Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our team. The role involves project site visits for data collection and analysis of control systems, working closely with clients, project owners, managers, contractors, and internal design team members. You will develop control system documentation, create control schematics, panel layouts, and network diagrams, as well as write and review specifications and technical reports for diverse audiences. The position also includes commissioning and supporting customer control systems both on-site and remotely.
Responsibilities
- Conduct project site visits for data collection and system evaluations.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project owners, managers, and contractors.
- Collaborate with internal design team members and project managers.
- Develop control system documentation, including functional descriptions and I/O lists.
- Create control schematics, panel layouts, and network diagrams.
- Write and review instrumentation and control system specifications.
- Prepare technical reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide on-site and remote commissioning and support for customer control systems.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program.
- Controls commissioning or troubleshooting experience.
- Understanding and experience with the National Electric Code (NEC).
- Three or more years of experience in electrical and/or integration & controls consulting.
- Proficiency in developing control panel layout drawings, bills of materials, and wiring drawings.
- Ability to multi-task across multiple projects.
- 20% travel to project sites.
- Effective communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and clients.
- Proficiency in MS Office products, specifically Word and Excel, and Bluebeam or similar PDF editing software.
- Capability to make design decisions with minimal input from more experienced staff.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, PLC programming, HMI, and instrumentation engineering.
- Experience with power distribution, schematic design, and panel design.
- Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an ABET accredited program.
Work Environment
The position is primarily office-based with some client site visits. A hybrid work option may be available depending on the candidate's experience.
