Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Mechanical Project Manager to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of diverse projects, working creatively to ensure their success while collaborating with a multi-discipline team of engineers and designers. The ideal candidate will manage projects ranging from small to large engineering budgets, overseeing schedules, scopes, and budgets while maintaining client relationships and delivering effective solutions.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of projects in their entirety, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Monitor and direct work on multiple projects simultaneously, serving as both lead engineer and project manager.
- Manage project schedules, scopes, and budgets, and provide regular status reports to clients and senior management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, offering solutions based on minimal information.
- Lead internal and client meetings, both web-based and in-person.
- Take responsibility for weekly meeting agendas and minutes, communicating key project-related issues effectively.
- Estimate costs for projects, including engineering, construction, and related expenses.
- Manage and de-escalate conflicts with clients and within project teams.
- Serve as the lead discipline engineer on projects, demonstrating proficiency within your engineering discipline.
- Complete engineering calculations and apply relevant codes accurately.
- Develop engineering documents according to industry, project, company, and client standards.
- Review and check for interferences between drawings of different disciplines.
- Interact effectively with other engineering disciplines to understand project impacts.
- Collect field notes during client site visits and consider design changes' impacts on the entire project.
- Communicate design change impacts to other departments effectively.
Essential Skills
- Proven project management and engineering design experience from an engineering services background.
- Experience in heavy industrial projects related to oil and gas, renewable energies, or pulp and paper.
- Proficiency in mechanical engineering, process piping, MEP design, plumbing design, HVAC, and heavy industrial construction.
- 8+ years of experience as a senior engineer and project manager on industrial projects.
- B.S. in Engineering, with a preference for mechanical or chemical engineering degrees.
- P.E. (Professional Engineer) is desired, with a willingness to obtain if not currently held.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to travel approximately 10-25% of the time.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with technical field and client job site.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to think creatively for client solutions.
- Self-motivated, independent work capability, and team leadership experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web meeting software, PDF markup software, and Microsoft Project.
- Experience with Navisworks Freedom is preferred.
Work Environment
The role offers a 100% remote schedule with several short trips each year, requiring travel 10-25% of the time.
