Job Title: Industrial Painter
Job Description
This role focuses on preparing, mixing, and applying industrial coatings to fabricated steel products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will ensure all coatings meet quality standards and project specifications while safely operating material handling equipment such as forklifts. The position requires strong attention to detail, familiarity with industrial paint systems, and the ability to follow technical documentation and work instructions accurately.

$22.00 - $25.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Schedule
Monday - Friday | 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- Overtime available based on production needs and customer demand.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fabricated steel surfaces for coating, including cleaning, sanding, and other surface preparation tasks, and verify surface cleanliness prior to paint application.
- Review project specifications, blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and coating specifications to determine appropriate coatings, materials, and application methods for each job.
- Measure, mix, and prepare coatings in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, including accurate use of liquid measurements such as ounces, pints, quarts, and gallons.
- Apply industrial coatings, primers, epoxies, protective finishes, and powder coatings evenly and consistently while maintaining required film thickness and quality standards.
- Monitor and document environmental conditions, coating batches, mixing times, and application records to ensure traceability and compliance with quality requirements.
- Perform visual inspections of coated products to verify coating quality, appearance, coverage, and adherence to project specifications, and identify any defects or rework needs.
- Communicate production issues, discrepancies, material concerns, or schedule changes promptly to supervision to help maintain workflow and project timelines.
- Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot spray equipment, pumps, hoses, guns, and related tools to ensure proper operation and minimize downtime.
- Load and unload materials in and out of the paint booth using a forklift, including safe operation of a Hyster 60 or larger forklift as required.
- Assist with training and mentoring new team members by demonstrating proper preparation, mixing, application, and safety practices.
- Support other coating and production activities as needed, including general labor tasks related to industrial painting and material handling.
- Follow all safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and work collaboratively with team members to maintain a safe and organized work area.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience as an Industrial Painter, Spray Painter, or similar manufacturing role preferred.
- 1+ year of industrial, automotive, or manufacturing painting experience preferred.
- Experience applying industrial coatings, primers, epoxies, or protective finishes to steel or metal components.
- Experience using spray guns and industrial paint or powder coating equipment.
- Ability to perform paint preparation tasks such as sanding, cleaning, and surface conditioning for industrial painting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and coating specifications.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and follow detailed work instructions.
- Working knowledge of liquid measurements, including ounces, pints, quarts, and gallons.
- Hands-on experience with industrial painting processes such as spraying, powder coating, and general industrial paint application.
- Capability to safely operate forklifts, including models comparable to a Hyster 60 or larger, for loading and unloading materials in the paint area.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining coating quality and consistency.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in structural steel, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
- Experience with powder coating, including setup, application, and curing processes.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment used in coatings and material handling operations.
- Comfort working around overhead cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment in a shop setting.
- Ability to document work, maintain basic records, and communicate clearly with supervisors and team members.
- Willingness to assist with training new team members and support cross-functional production tasks.
- Strong sense of accountability, teamwork, and pride in craftsmanship.

Work Environment

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
