Job Description
Lead and oversee commercial new construction plumbing and pipefitting projects, including the installation and hanging of gas lines and various piping systems. Ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project plans, mechanical standards, and building codes.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities on commercial new construction plumbing and pipefitting projects.
- Install and oversee the installation of gas lines, including overhead gas piping, black pipe, and related components.
- Manage installation of PVC, copper, cast iron, and other piping systems for plumbing and HVAC applications.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and construction plans to ensure accurate layout and installation of piping systems.
- Verify that all plumbing and pipefitting work meets mechanical standards, project specifications, and applicable codes.
- Organize work areas, materials, and tools to maintain a safe, efficient, and productive job site.
- Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and proper function, and make adjustments or corrections as needed.
- Coordinate with other trades and project stakeholders to maintain workflow and meet project timelines.
- Train and guide less experienced workers in proper installation techniques, safety practices, and use of tools.
- Monitor job site safety and enforce safe work practices, including proper handling of gas lines and overhead piping.
- Document progress, communicate issues or delays, and provide updates to project leadership as required.
- Minimum of 3+ years of commercial pipefitting or plumbing experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with commercial new construction plumbing and pipefitting.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings.
- Demonstrated skill in installing PVC piping systems in commercial settings.
- Experience working with cast iron piping for plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Ability to install and work with copper piping in various applications.
- Practical knowledge of mechanical systems related to plumbing and HVAC.
- Experience installing and hanging gas lines, including overhead gas piping.
- Hands-on experience with gas pipe and black pipe installation.
- Overhead pipe installation experience, including safe handling and alignment.
- Understanding of basic HVAC piping and mechanical connections.
- Ability to plan and execute installations in alignment with project specifications and codes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Experience coordinating tasks and guiding crews on commercial construction projects.
- Ability to troubleshoot installation issues and propose effective solutions.
- Strong communication skills for working with team members and other trades on site.
- Capability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Comfort working in outdoor construction environments and adapting to changing site conditions.
- Reliable work ethic with consistency in attendance and meeting project schedules.

Work Environment

The environment involves active construction sites with mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC installations, overhead piping work, and coordination with other trades. Proper safety practices and job-site attire are essential to perform the work effectively and safely.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr.
