General Laborer
Job Description
This role supports a high-volume manufacturing operation that runs a closed-loop system to recycle post-production polycarbonate and PVC scrap into new, durable thermoplastic products. As a General Laborer, you will assist across different stages of the production line, including palletizing and performing quality inspections on plastic sheets used in applications such as protective plexiglass for restaurants, schools, and businesses. You will work in a fast-paced environment that focuses on safety, efficiency, and sustainability while contributing to reducing waste and minimizing environmental impact.
Responsibilities
- Support multiple functions on the production line, including palletizing finished plastic sheets and assisting with material flow.
- Perform quality inspections on plastic sheets to ensure they meet established standards and specifications.
- Operate or assist with operating manufacturing and plastic processing equipment as directed.
- Handle production materials, including unloading, loading, and replenishing materials on the line.
- Work as part of a team running a dedicated production line, treating the line as an individual operational unit.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with manufacturing machinery and materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient production.
- Assist with general labor tasks in production, such as moving product, staging materials, and supporting line changeovers as needed.
- Adapt to different tasks and responsibilities based on production needs and line requirements.
Essential Skills
- At least 6 months of experience in manufacturing or production environments.
- Experience working on a production line or in a general labor role within a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to perform material handling tasks, including unloading, loading, and replenishing materials.
- Familiarity with machine operation in a manufacturing or plastic production environment.
- Commitment to following safety practices and procedures in a production setting.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team running a production line.
- Willingness to work in a 24/7 manufacturing operation, including shifts as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in plastic manufacturing or working with thermoplastic products.
- Experience in machine operation, especially in production or manufacturing environments.
- Comfort working in a high-volume, continuously operating manufacturing facility.
- Versatility and flexibility to support different functions on the line as production needs change.
- Interest in taking on additional responsibilities on the line as opportunities arise.

Work Environment
You will work in a large manufacturing operation with approximately 270 internal employees spread across three buildings. The facility runs as a 24/7 manufacturing operation, and you will be part of a team assigned to a specific production line that operates as its own unit. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with expanding capacity as new lines are added to support significant company growth. You will work around plastic manufacturing equipment and material handling operations, supporting continuous production of thermoplastic sheets.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Smithsville, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $21.50/hr.
