Job Description
This role supports a multi-faceted industrial coating operation by performing racking, unracking, masking, mechanical cleaning, and final touch-up tasks on customer parts. Production Associates help ensure that finished and unfinished goods are handled safely, coated accurately, and prepared for storage, transport, or further processing in a precise and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Rack, un-rack, and package customer parts according to work orders, ensuring correct arrangement for storage, transport, or preparation for metal finishing.
- Visually inspect products prior to racking and promptly report any non-conformances to the appropriate supervisor.
- Record all required racking and unracking information accurately on work orders and related documentation.
- Handle customer products and tooling carefully to avoid damage throughout the coating and finishing processes.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition at all times.
- Consistently follow all safety procedures and comply with safety regulations while performing all tasks.
- Prepare parts for coating processes to ensure proper adhesion of finishing materials.
- Apply masking materials accurately to prevent certain areas from being coated, using hand tools and following clear instructions.
- Remove masking materials and adhesives completely after processing, ensuring the integrity and function of each part.
- Interpret detailed technical drawings to correctly mask and handle parts according to specifications.
- Perform masking activities as assigned to support metal finishing and plating operations.
- Perform mechanical cleaning of parts to prepare them for coating or further processing.
- Load and unload parts from coating processes, including racks, lines, and related equipment.
- Count, sort, assemble, and pack parts to meet customer requirements and internal quality standards.
- Operate general production and packaging equipment as needed, including basic machine operation and use of hand tools and tape measures.
- Assist with inspection tasks to verify quality and accuracy of finished and unfinished goods.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals and maintain a positive, team-oriented environment.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of quality and productivity.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall coating and production operations.
- Ability to perform masking activities for metal finishing and plating processes.
- Ability to perform mechanical cleaning of parts prior to coating.
- Proficiency using hand tools for masking, cleaning, and general production tasks.
- Capability to load and unload parts from coating processes safely and efficiently.

- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members across shifts.

Work Environment
The role is based in a multi-faceted industrial coating facility located in an updated facility within an older building in York City. The operation handles both finished and unfinished goods, including heavier products, and uses equipment such as racking systems, coating lines, mechanical cleaning tools, hand tools, and basic production machinery. Production Associates work primarily on 1st shift (approximately 5:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. or 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.) and 2nd shift, with a 20-minute paid lunch period that is clocked in and out. The environment requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, and reaching overhead, as well as safely lifting up to 50 pounds. Work is performed in a safety-focused, industrial setting where maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas is essential, and appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing and metal finishing environment is expected.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East York, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
