POSITION PROFILE

The Distribution Requirements Planner is responsible for ensuring efficient inventory allocation, prioritizing customer orders, minimizing transfer costs, and decreasing the order book to delivery cycle time. This role is critical in maintaining optimal stock levels and ensuring timely delivery to meet customer demands.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze inventory levels and forecast demand to allocate stock effectively across distribution centers. Execute daily inventory transfers from hub locations.
  • Monitor and adjust inventory allocation based on sales trends and seasonal fluctuations.
  • Sets replenishment reorder points to maximize fill rates while maintaining healthy inventory levels. Lead root cause analysis on significant changes from previous period, ensuring reorder points are set optimally.
  • Proactively provide hub locations with suggested forward deployment transfer orders to ensure hub location inventory achieves targeted levels.
  • Monitor exception reports to limit inventory exposure of obsolete inventory
  • Maintain an order prioritization system to ensure high-priority orders are fulfilled first.
  • Collaborate with sales and national operation teams to understand customer needs and urgency. Have orders dated correctly in the ERP system.
  • Manage orders within assigned sales class from booking to release to the configuration centers, with focus on shortage resolution. Proactively communicate order status to sales team.
  • Manage aged orders and either drive to completion or date out to ensure inventory allocation does not take place.
  • Work with Product Life Cycle Planning team to ensure phase out products are consumed as close to the transition period as possible. Report out order bank tied to phase out inventory and risks.
  • Provide DRP team overall order prioritization for constrained items. Communication out to sales team to solicit feedback on reordering priorities.
  • Work with procurement team to determine excess and shortages of equipment and supplies at manufacturing centers
  • Evaluate and select cost-effective transportation methods for transferring inventory between locations.
  • Implement strategies to balance inventory throughout North American distribution centers, avoiding overstock and stockouts.
  • Lead multiple order quantity (MOQ) analysis to optimize inventory transfers.
  • Streamline order processing workflows to reduce cycle time from order placement to delivery.
  • Utilize technology and automation to enhance order tracking and management.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications)

Typically Required:
  • Four-year college degree - preferably in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, Logistics, or Accounting/Finance - or comparable experience is required.
  • Three + years of experience, with a background in Distribution Requirements Planning, Material Requirements Planning, Purchasing, or Customer Service
  • APICS, CFP, and Sig Sigma certifications a plus

  • Proficiency in Oracle is a plus

  • Intermediate to Advanced analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level
  • Requires internal contact within department and with other corporate personnel, and external contact with customers, agencies, vendors, etc. and General Public
  • Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve the problem.
  • Modest physical effort is required. Work does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 20 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files, etc.)
  • Requires moderate dexterity - regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, and eye/hand coordination
