Job Description
This Field Engineer role focuses on providing expert technical support for advanced building automation systems while working collaboratively within a team. You will act as a technical and product specialist, resolving highly complex issues, guiding less experienced Field Engineers, and serving as a key point of contact in the field. The position requires strong time management, organizational, communication, and troubleshooting abilities to ensure reliable and efficient operation of building automation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical and product expert for building automation systems and related technologies.
- Diagnose and resolve highly complex technical issues in the field, including software, controls, and network-related problems.
- Lead and support the training and development of less experienced Field Engineers, sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
- Act as a primary point of contact in the field for technical questions, escalations, and issue resolution.
- Install, configure, and commission building automation controls and associated hardware and software.
- Navigate and integrate into a variety of building automation systems to ensure seamless operation and interoperability.
- Utilize advanced building automation software, such as WebCTRL, to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance.
- Apply strong time management and organizational skills to plan, prioritize, and complete field assignments efficiently.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and customers to explain technical issues and solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of field activities, configurations, and resolutions to support ongoing system reliability.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in the field and office.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and field assignments efficiently.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers and team members.
- Advanced technical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving complex issues in building automation systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools to support documentation, communication, and reporting.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts as they relate to building automation systems.
- Hands-on experience with building automation systems and controls, including installation and configuration.
- Proficiency with advanced building automation software, such as WebCTRL.
- Ability to navigate and integrate into a variety of building automation systems.
- Bachelor’s degree, Associate degree, or Technical/Business School Certificate in Controls or a related field (preferred).
- Experience working with industrial equipment and building automation environments.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage complex technical scenarios in the field.
- Capability to mentor and support less experienced engineers through training and guidance.
The role operates primarily in environments that utilize industrial equipment and building automation systems. You will work on-site at facilities where advanced control systems and related hardware are installed, configured, and maintained. The position involves hands-on interaction with building automation controls, software tools such as WebCTRL, and networked systems using TCP/IP. Field work may require moving between different customer locations, working around industrial equipment, and adapting to varying facility conditions while maintaining a professional appearance.

This is a Contract position based out of Harrisburg, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
