Job Title: Production Worker
Job Description
This role is a physically demanding production position in a food manufacturing facility, working primarily in a cooled environment handling blocks of cheese on conveyor systems. You contribute directly to the production of finished cheese products while maintaining strict sanitation and safety standards and supporting multiple departments through cross-training.
Responsibilities
- Handle and place large blocks of cheese onto conveyor belts in the production department in a fast-paced, highly physical environment.
- Work in a cooler environment at approximately 35 degrees, managing repetitive lifting and movement throughout the shift.
- Support the manufacturing department by placing unflavored blocks of cheese on conveyors to be mixed with different varieties and flavors.
- Follow all sanitation procedures, including participating in full factory cleaning from top to bottom at the end of each shift.
- Work closely with an assigned coworker during the initial training period, then collaborate with the broader production team during regular operations and clean-up.
- Wear and maintain all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hair net, beard net (if applicable), safety glasses, ear plugs, coat, and steel-toe footwear.
- Use waterproof shoe covers and coats as needed during cleaning tasks and be comfortable working in wet conditions.
- Adhere to food safety and cleanliness standards in a very clean food plant environment.
- Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time for each scheduled shift and being prepared to work the full shift duration.
- Be willing to work overtime, including Fridays when production demands increase.
- Accept cross-training in multiple departments to support different stages of the production process as needed.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience in a warehouse or production environment.
- Ability and willingness to lift up to 45 pounds more than 50 times per day.
- Willingness to be cross-trained and work in multiple departments within the facility.
- General production experience, particularly in a manufacturing or factory setting.
- Ability to work in a cold environment (around 35 degrees) for the duration of the shift.
- Comfort with very physical, repetitive labor in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attendance and punctuality, with a consistent ability to show up on time every day.
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
- Capacity to work overtime, including Fridays, when business needs require.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a food production facility is highly preferred.
- General labor, factory work, or sanitation is a plus.
- Previous experience in food production or related environments such as farms or fresh food processing facilities is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to perform physical labor over an entire shift.
- Positive, willing-to-work attitude and strong work ethic.
- Comfort working in environments with strong food-related smells.
Why Work Here?
You join a clean, well-organized food production facility that values teamwork, thorough training, and high safety and sanitation standards. The environment offers consistent full-time hours with opportunities for overtime, allowing you to build reliable income while developing versatile skills through cross-training across multiple departments. You work alongside a close-knit production team, receive all necessary protective equipment, and contribute to a process that emphasizes quality, cleanliness, and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
Work Environment
The role is based in a very clean food manufacturing plant with approximately 15 workers on the production floor. You primarily work in a cooler at about 35 degrees where finished cheese products are handled, and the plant will smell like the cheese being processed each day. The position involves highly physical work, repetitive lifting, and standing for most of the shift. You start by working closely with one individual for the first couple of weeks for training and later collaborate with the entire team, especially during end-of-shift cleaning when the whole factory is cleaned from top to bottom. The environment can be wet during cleaning, and waterproof shoe covers and coats are provided. Proper PPE is required at all times, including hair net, beard net if needed, safety glasses, ear plugs, coat, and steel-toe footwear. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with the expectation of working Fridays as overtime when production demands increase.
