This role is responsible for setting up welding equipment, interpreting blueprints and weld symbols, and performing high-quality welds on structural steel and heavy plate materials in an industrial fabrication environment.
Responsibilities- Perform MIG, Flux Core (FCAW), and Stick welding on structural steel and heavy plate components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols to complete fabrication tasks accurately.
- Set up and adjust welding machines based on material type and thickness to achieve proper weld quality.
- Complete welds according to established quality standards and customer specifications.
- Inspect completed welds, identify defects, and perform necessary repairs to meet quality requirements.
- Operate hand tools, grinders, torches, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with fit-up, fabrication, and additional shop tasks as needed to support production goals.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in accordance with shop standards.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and fabrication team members to coordinate work and resolve issues.
- Follow all safety, quality, and production standards and procedures throughout daily work.
- Previous welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to pass 2G and 3G welding tests.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic shop math.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work safely in a production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to quality workmanship.
- Structural steel or heavy plate fabrication experience.
- Flux Core (FCAW) welding experience.
- AWS welding certifications.
- Experience operating overhead cranes and material handling equipment.
- Experience using grinding, fitting, and fabrication tools.
- Comfort working in an industrial steel fabrication setting with large components and production deadlines.

Work EnvironmentWork takes place in an industrial steel fabrication shop with exposure to welding fumes, noise, heat, and metal fabrication processes. The role involves working around large steel components, overhead cranes, and various fabrication equipment in a fast-paced production environment focused on quality and project deadlines. Personal protective equipment is required, including a welding helmet, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection. The position follows a first-shift schedule with standard hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Castle, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
