Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Description
Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring the proper running and cleaning of production equipment in the safe manufacture of powder coatings at our production sites. Operators may be assigned to Grinding, Weigh Up, or Extrusion production areas.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of production assets and ensure they are operated safely and per established procedures, guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Perform daily production, preventative maintenance, process data collection, and administration tasks as per procedures and control systems.
- Report safety, quality, or other issues related to products or production processes to the Team Leader or Shift Supervisor.
- Ensure all production targets are met while maintaining the appropriate quality standards.
- Attend and contribute to meetings.
- Contribute to the investigation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) or quality issues.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities and programs for HSE, Quality, and other assigned initiatives.
- Engage in the Safety Journey and adhere to the Golden Principle to intervene and stop work if conditions or behaviors are unsafe.
- Promote health, safety, and environmental regulations by ensuring compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Perform other duties as required for success.
- Weigh Up Operators: Wash totes, charge product, weigh critical raws, sample room pre-mix, extrude/grind/sieve sample, obtain QC analysis, stage raw materials, record data, transport totes, blend and sample.
- Extruder Operators: Possess basic mechanical aptitude, determine screw profile for product, assess machine cleanliness, wash and clean totes, transport totes, extrude product, adjust feed rate, transport extruded product.
- ICM Operators: Grind totes to minimize contamination, determine machine cleanliness, transport and check flake for contamination, perform particle size analysis, and pull samples for QC.
Essential Skills
- Machine operation experience, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in production, manufacturing, and quality control.
- Ability to use hand tools, perform inspections, and operate a forklift.
- Proficiency in using a tape measure and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and general labor tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a paint manufacturing facility preferred.
- Proficiency in English for reading, writing, and verbal communication.
- Basic Microsoft skills preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Two to three years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform complex testing processes and maintain test equipment.

Work Environment
The role involves working directly on the manufacturing floor, with openings on 1st/2nd swing shifts (7am-3pm / 3pm-11pm) and a 3rd shift (11pm - 7am). The environment is climate-controlled, and operators work in teams of about 5 people per section. Although some older machinery is used and there is some dust in the air, the workplace maintains cleanliness standards.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
