Job Description
This role focuses on safely and efficiently handling materials in fabrication and assembly areas using sit-down and stand-up forklifts. You will feed raw materials to welders, machinists, and other production teams, occasionally operate additional equipment such as overhead cranes, and support smooth production flow across the facility.
Responsibilities
- Operate sit-down forklifts primarily, with occasional use of stand-up forklifts, to move and stage materials throughout fabrication and assembly areas.
- Feed raw materials to welders, machinists, and other production personnel to ensure continuous and efficient production.
- Transport parts and materials to the proper locations within the plant, both inside and outside, in all weather conditions.
- Run overhead cranes as needed to safely lift, move, and position heavy materials and components.
- Drive lift equipment on rough terrain while maintaining control, stability, and adherence to safety procedures.
- Follow established safety protocols at all times, including the proper use of metatarsal steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in a musky, dirty manufacturing environment, ensuring walkways and material staging areas remain clear.
- Stand for 50% or more of the workday while performing material handling tasks and operating equipment.
- Meet strict production deadlines by efficiently prioritizing material movements and responding quickly to changing work demands.
- Support overtime requirements as needed to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 6 months of forklift operating experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proven ability to safely operate sit-down forklifts in busy production areas.
- Experience operating stand-up forklifts for material handling tasks.
- Background in manufacturing or industrial material handling environments.
- Ability to work safely on rough terrain while operating lift equipment.
- Capability to stand for extended periods, including 50% or more of the shift.
- Willingness and ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong awareness of and adherence to safety practices, including use of required personal protective equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting welders, machinists, or other skilled trades by staging and delivering materials.
- Comfort working in musky, dirty environments typical of heavy manufacturing facilities.
- Ability to learn and safely operate overhead cranes when required.
- No high school diploma or GED is required for this role.
- Flexibility to work overtime to meet production deadlines.
- Reliability and punctuality in a deadline-intensive environment.

Work Environment
The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor areas within a manufacturing facility, with concrete floors and rough terrain where lift equipment is frequently operated. Conditions can be musky and dirty, and you may stand for 50% or more of your shift while handling materials and operating equipment. You will work in all weather conditions to pull parts and transport them to the correct locations in the plant. Metatarsal steel-toe footwear is required, and safety glasses and hearing protection are mandatory and provided. Typical attire consists of jeans and a t-shirt or sweatshirt; shorts and sweatpants are not allowed. The facility is deadline-intensive, and a significant amount of overtime may be required or available.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shady Grove, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.75 - $18.75/hr.
