Job Description
This Program Manager position supports large, complex technical programs within the aerospace and defense industry, combining elements of construction management and systems integration. The role focuses on overseeing or assisting in the delivery of anechoic test chambers and antenna measurement systems, ensuring projects meet technical, schedule, budget, and compliance requirements. The position is based in Warminster, PA in a hybrid work arrangement and offers the opportunity to manage high-value, mission-critical programs for defense-related applications.
Responsibilities
- Oversee or assist in the execution of complex programs that integrate chamber construction and technical systems.
- Manage projects involving structural steel, shielded panels, and absorber foam for anechoic chamber construction.
- Coordinate technical systems integration across mechanical and software components to ensure cohesive system performance.
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met on time.
- Plan and allocate resources effectively, including internal teams and external contractors, to support project objectives.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, providing clear, timely communication and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with defense project requirements, including adherence to DPAS ratings and applicable standards.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring financial performance aligns with scope and contractual commitments.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, implementing risk management strategies to protect schedule, cost, and quality.
- Prepare and present project status updates, reports, and documentation to internal stakeholders and customers.
- Support or lead the management of programs ranging from desktop-scale systems to large facilities up to half a football field in size.
- Oversee projects with durations from six months to five years, ensuring consistent performance across long-term engagements.
- Manage or support programs valued from approximately $700K to $6M, including participation in larger programs exceeding $50M.
- Travel up to 25% of the time when managing full programs, including visits to customer sites, construction locations, and integration facilities.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams, including mechanical and systems engineers, to ensure design and implementation meet technical specifications and customer requirements.
- Utilize project management tools such as Microsoft Project and other Microsoft Office applications to plan, track, and report project progress.
- Ensure that projects adhere to relevant aerospace, defense, RF, and MIL-STD requirements as applicable to the scope of work.
Essential Skills
- Proven program or project management experience in construction management and/or technical systems integration.
- Experience managing projects in the range of approximately $3–5 million or higher.
- Strong background or exposure to aerospace and defense environments.
- Technical background in mechanical or systems engineering, ideally supported by a relevant degree.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and financial performance for complex projects.
- Experience with risk management, including identification, assessment, and mitigation of project risks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including tools for documentation, communication, and reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar project scheduling and planning software.
- Strong customer-facing skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical and project information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work onsite in Warminster, PA in a hybrid arrangement.
- Ability to travel up to approximately 25% when managing full programs, with minimal travel required when in a supporting project management role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on aerospace, defense, RF, DOD, or aviation-related projects.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD and other defense-related standards and requirements.
- Mechanical engineering or systems engineering degree or equivalent technical education.
- Experience overseeing projects involving structural steel, shielded panels, and absorber foam construction.
