Maintenance Technician / Carpenter
This role involves traveling to various properties throughout the Rhode Island area to perform general building maintenance and light construction tasks. You will handle a wide range of repair, janitorial, and carpentry duties to keep facilities safe, clean, and in good working condition. The position follows a daytime schedule and offers consistent full-time hours.
Responsibilities
- Drive to multiple properties within the Rhode Island area to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
- Carry out general building maintenance, including minor repairs and upkeep of interior and exterior areas.
- Perform janitorial duties such as cleaning common areas, removing debris, and ensuring properties remain presentable.
- Patch roofs and address minor roofing issues to prevent leaks and structural damage.
- Install, repair, and finish sheet rock, including taping, sanding, and preparing surfaces for painting or finishing.
- Cut and remove concrete as needed for repairs, installations, or structural modifications.
- Install new flooring materials and perform basic flooring repairs to maintain safe and attractive surfaces.
- Dispose of garbage and construction debris safely and in accordance with site procedures.
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform tasks such as cutting, fastening, and assembling materials.
- Measure and mark materials accurately using a tape measure to ensure precise cuts and installations.
- Assist with rough and finish carpentry, including framing, installing metal studs, and completing trim or finish work.
- Support commercial construction and maintenance activities, including light installation and repair projects.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical and building issues and perform minor repairs or escalate when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety guidelines and procedures while on site.
Work Environment
This position is based in a construction and maintenance environment, working on occupied and unoccupied buildings across multiple property locations. You will work a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, exposure to varying weather conditions, and regular use of hand tools and power tools. Tasks may include working on ladders, around concrete and roofing materials, and in areas with dust and debris. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety while performing maintenance and construction activities.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Providence, RI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
