Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Description
This role involves setting up and monitoring looms to ensure consistent, high-quality fabric production while maintaining optimal machine performance. You will maintain and repair looms to approved maintenance standards, support production targets, and contribute to a safe, efficient, and quality-focused manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up looms according to production requirements to ensure consistent and high-quality fabric output.
- Monitor all looms during operation to maintain optimum performance and promptly address any issues.
- Maintain and repair looms as needed in line with approved maintenance standards.
- Communicate maintenance schedules and machine breakdowns clearly to production technicians.
- Identify and report trends in loom breakdowns to support continuous improvement.
- Train and develop technical skills within the production environment to help personnel achieve the best possible production targets.
- Collaborate with facilities personnel to ensure production plan targets are met.
- Work closely with health and safety and quality personnel to support effective performance of the quality system.
- Perform quality inspections on fabrics and machine output to ensure compliance with standards.
- Set up machines and adjust settings as required for different production runs.
- Use computer-controlled or CNC equipment as part of machine setup and operation.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience working in a production environment.
- Hands-on experience working with machines or stitching is a plus.
- Strong mechanical skills with the ability to understand and work with mechanical systems.
- Effective troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve machine issues quickly.
- Experience with machine operating and monitoring in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to perform quality inspection to ensure products meet required standards.
- Experience with machine setup, including adjusting settings and configurations.
- Computer control or CNC experience in a production environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly with production and maintenance personnel.
- Commitment to following health, safety, and quality procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred.
- Experience in textile or fabric production is beneficial.
- Experience training or mentoring others in a production environment is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including facilities, health and safety, and quality.
- Organizational skills to manage maintenance schedules and production priorities effectively.
